Nice looking tailpipe. Like the spoiler, where can get one?

Suggest you maintain the downward pointing tailpipe. Was observing a 320d on the PLUS hiway last week. Guy downshifted and a very noticeable puff of black smoke was farted out of the exhaust! If your car is white, I believe the bumpers would be discoloured in a short time.

I have changed my down-pointing tailpipe to straight-out. 2 things gained : (1) it is smoother and responsive (2) nice looking (hehe...)
I saw a black 320D changed to straight-out the other day at eat-west highway. I give 2 thumbs up :-D

AHMZ, if you were to floor the gas pedal at traffic light or anytime while driving, with down-pointing tailpipe, the black smoke is significant too..... so change or not change the black smoke still fart. But, one thing you may want to take note is - wash frequently especially those driving light color 320D.

I agree that the black smoke will be present, whether the tailpipe is pointing down or not. However, the point is with the straight tailpipe, it would be much easier to discolor your bumper. And discoloration due to smoke is NOT easy to take off. There is a reason why diesels are supplied stock with downward pointing tailpipes.

mat6689, mind sharing how did you change your tailpipe? Did you change the whole exhaust? or just made alterations? What is the cost? Could you also post pics of your new tailpipe?

I have to say (with all due respect) that I disagree, ahmz. I think it's in fact, much the other way around. With the exhaust pointing down, the block soot hits the ground and then flies up hitting the bumper. If it was pointed straight, the soot is then more easily propelled into the air. The reason, I believe, the exhaust is made to point downwards is that with our poorer quality diesel and removal of the particulate filter in our 320d cars, the soot would hit other cars if the exhaust was not made to point downwards. In my experience (or should I say, my maid's experience, bless her!) the soot is actually quite easily washed off with a car shampoo. astroboy also says all the 320i cars also have this soot on their bumpers. So, it is not a problem unique to the Malaysian BMW diesel cars.

Any idea when BMW will launch new 3 series in M'sia especially 320d?

I think the new 3 series codenamed the F30 will reach our shores only in early 2013. Look for the next 3-series at the 2012 Geneva auto show. I hear there will be a 1.5L turbodiesel engine then too.
Everybody's downsizing their engines with the go-green trend.
Good or bad?-depends on whether you like power or economy.

When I got the pre reg 320d they service the car at 9000km. Now that it has reached 15km they service it again at their request when I sent it in to fix something. Pretty neat of them The car has yet to stall after the 1st incident many months ago. Though I still have high fuel consumption.

The 320d is a joy to drive. I get to overtake many cars in slow traffic as the car is just as happy to pounce in front at a tap of the accelerator. Didn;t regret to get the diesel.

My sentiments mirrored exactly, DKNY. I think diesel is the way forwards-for us who appreciate power and torque and at the same time want economy. The green electric hybrids, the Prius etc. -I think not for us.
The next diesel engine we will select: maybe the 3L Diesels in the F30 in 2013? Yeah, once you set yourself a target, it can only get better!!

Overtaking? We become bloody naughty with that monstrous torque. Get out of our way, all you flies!! I think it must be us that are getting hantam in the press lately-the speed demons in their German marques!! ha ha!! It's not us, it's the diesel!!

fully agree, guys. hehe, can't get enough of the thrill when stepping on the throttle and being jammed back into the bucket seat when the rocket takes off :D

I only change the tailpipe, not dare to change entire local customization. I did it at TorqueGear @ Sunway, rm300. picture, please see my avatar. :)

anyone installed the bluefin on to their 320d??

After a few discussions with a tuner in Amsterdam (where I was last month) I decided against getting a bluefin. Takut gearbox koyak :D

saw a 320d on the MEX a few days back. from far it looked like a 320i and i was wondering why the car was so peppy, weaving in n out of traffic. but a pity the tq runs out fast. and they should make the 'd' bigger hehe, v deceiving. but good stuff for a diesel car. :)

The torque makes us naughty. Overtaking becomes a breeze. We give BMW drivers a bad name!

Just wanna check.
For best pick up, do u guys change the gear when the torque is at the peak around 3k or all the way above 5k only up shift? Which is better?
