hope, the old batch of demo cars at AB were sold 1-2 months ago from what I heard from the SA, this included the 320d. The new 320d with the uprated engines are still rare so I think it may be a bit difficult to get a pre-owned/demo 320d right now.

When negotiating, don't forget the fleet discount if you work for one of the 200+ multinationals in their list eg. Shell, GSK. If I understand it correctly this discount (up to 8%) is covered for partially by the dealer and partially by BMW Malaysia so there may be room for negotiation. Then ask for more goodies, the BMW Navigation is useful if you get a 3er without iDrive, you get GPS and bluetooth integrated into the car's audio system. Skip the DVD entertainment system IMO, it's a piece of junk.

Really appreciate the advise... another point that i am pondering the the year of the make... since it is already oct... i am heavily considering to wait for cny promo's or something like that and get the make with year 2011...
hehe... not sure i am making sense or not... :stupid:

If you're not desperate and not fussy on the manufactured year, the dealers will probably be pushing to dispose of 2010 units in a couple of months' time, ie Dec-ish. Happens every year, and there'll probably be good discounts + incentives. Last year, I remember pre-reg/demo units being offered at 12-14% or 8%+ rm10k off .
If going for a new unit, then wait till next year...but beware the 3-5 month waiting period for delivery!

Folks,
Not sure if this is the right place to start this discussion. The following day after my car wash (car not used after the wash for the night), I find the brakes locked eventhough the handbrake lever is released. I have to repeat some forward and reverse rocking action until the brakes get unlocked. Is this common? Appreciate your views.

i think 1 out 10 3er got this problem, solution is send to SC or don't engage the handbrake after wash or rain...

Never had locking problems even 2 days after washing but the brakes do make some noise the first few moments of using them. Then it becomes normal again.

Usually i wash the car after it is cold - at least 4 hours after it was last driven.

Yikes, that can be a disconcerting experience, no?
With new bimmers, the tolerances between pads & wheel are small. A little water in between stimulates some mini crevice corrosion which can cause this "stickiness". Once the pads wear in, you shouldn't experience this much anymore. For now, if it persists and you find it irritating, your SC can help widen the gap a little.

On a separate but related note, when taking delivery of my car, I was told by the SA that when the wipers are activated (even in Auto mode) in the rain, the brakes will engage briefly every so often to keep the pads dry. That's the technology extras that I like about our cars.:top:

Was at Ingress earlier today, they had at least 3 demo 320d and 2 demo 325i sports for sale in the Premium Selection lot.

But waiting for next year if that's an option for you is good too although to me, with the replacement 3-series coming by end of 2011, I'd buy sooner rather than later.

Yeah I had similar problem last time. Wash it thoroughly and left idle for 10 days. The tyre jam after that and i need to reverse/forward few time to release it.

After that i did not dare to wash unless i'm going to use the car on the day itself. Never encounter similar problem afterward.

Many thanks to MikeyC, Zhul and Maniac for the advise. The link was a great source of information and spot on in addressing my concern.:top:

Has anyone had the chance to compare the difference between the 177Hp and the 183Hp 320d? Any major performance difference?

0 - 100km/h, 8.0s vs 7.6s

Tested the new 183hp 320d at innovation day, to be honest no difference; maybe the car is not proper 'run-in' yet, the odo shows only 600+ km done.

I tested loads of new 320ds..went to almost all the innovation days outings here in KL,,,and as I was saying to Albundy, couldn't tell the difference.

With that should I abandon the idea of the performance kit since there is not much difference in terms of delivery of power to be excited about??

The new engine is however a mere 6hp more but the performance kit has an additional 20hp from the old engine or 14 more than the new engine.

Wonder if one can notice the difference.

Albundy says the performance kit has not reached Malaysia. Maybe never will. So, you do not have that decision to make just yet.

I am seriously getting 650km to the tank. I fill up about RM94.00 per tank. Is anyone getting about the same when driving in the city heavy footed or am I way off course??

Bro, at about 7.1l/100kms, I've been getting the high 800's to the tank. Not extremely heavy footed, but I don't hold back when the roads are clear. Tried BHP, Petronas & Shell with no noticeable difference in mileage. Are you on DS all the time?
