Hey guys,Most of our modern rides these days come with an auto lock feature. You know, those auto door lock feature that locks your doors automatically after moving above 10km/h or something like that. This feature is important where security is concerned in this day and age.Now the current Honda Accord and Civic dont have this feature. I happen to have both these vehicles and being so used to the UDM there have been times i arrived at my destination only to realise that the doors were not locked the entire journey. So does anyone know where i can get this auto lock feature installed?I understand that there are 2 types (or maybe more?). Speed sensitive (where it will lock your doors after achieving certain speed) and brake sensitive (where it will lock your doors once you step on the brakes). What are the pros and cons of each of those?Any other info pertaining to this would be appreciated too. :)

My former "slk" will locked the door once i release the handbrake. I think it is cheap to modify the existing central locking system to work this way.

Interesting. Didnt know there was one for the handbrake too. So what happens if you dont use the handbrake when you park? You dont release the handbrake therefore the doors never lock? Hm, not so secure in this case.

One thing is the "slk" is manual and i believe the norm is to pull the handbrake lever once you park the car. The central lock will locked again if you release the lever and will unlock automatically if you turn off the engine. If you need to unlock it while the engine still on, you need to pull the driver's door lock pin. And if you already pull up the handbrake lever, it will locked again once you release it.

My e30 central lock work differently. It is not the original lock. I can lock the car without cutting off the engine using the central locking remote controller. in certain circumstances it did help i.e. i can leave the childrens in the car with the aircond on if i'm buying a goreng pisang or doing some business with the atm.

The auto lock is a feature of the central locking and/or alarm system, some have it, some don't, so it depends on the system installed.

Btw, my 97/98 Satria also came with handbrake actuated auto lock system, the system will unlock the doors the moment you turn off the ignition, else you hafta press a button to unlock/lock manually (eg. when dropping someone off).

I'd prefer the autolock with handbrake release or the speed sensor one rather than the brake based because there are times when I'll get beyond 100kmh before having to press my brake.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Now the next question is where can i go to get it fitted and is there a particular brand i should be looking at?

3er,
You can try going to Cobra at TTDI to check it out. There are the official supplier to Honda.

the brake dependant system is activated on you first touching the brakes which for an auto car will be almost immediately before you move off; in the case of a manual car it could be shortly after eg at the first traffic light or whatever.... unless you live in the desert it is very likely you will hit the brakes sooner rather than later.

Yo brader!

Want a cheap one, most car accessories shop can fix this thing.

Want a more expensive one also got.

I used to deal with these automotive vendors back in 95'.

Cobra is good.
