Isn't it a bit like giving a ground soldier a loaded rifle but telling him he's not allowed to ever pull the trigger while in battle but has to use the bayonet instead because it's the general's ultimate orders?

One question, Ecco, you always talk about getting a 5.0 engine in your Z4, it puzzles me now, when you're ever gonna need it?

Floor it from 0 to 110 in 5 seconds and put on auto cruise?

This is good one!

I agree with most of what you said, but doing 110kmh on the rightmost lane on a highway in your big Range Rover, you are the random one....did you realise that? You are not protecting anyone since you know they (and me) will go round you on the left lane which are more dangerous.

Agreed :top:

The grand illusion of protecting other motorist by road hogging the right lane is actually putting other motorist at a greater risk of an accident ... If a car is faster than me then i will definitely give way as the road is for everyone not for myself only. Road hogging is a selfish attitude.

I'm not saying you are right and I am wrong, its obvious that I'm the one breaking the law, and so are others, but the majority of cars on the right lane on a highway doing 130-150kmh. So when you said 'one goes random', you are actually pointing at yourself.
Thats all I'm saying.
Anyway I know you're a nice guy, but I'm a constant speeder and absolutely hate lane hoggers. No hard feelings, just a nice little argument hehehe.

So I'll flash and horn you next time I see a Range Rover hogging the lane, but I'll wave once I get past you on the left.
Just kidding, I never flash or horn hoggers, normally I just carefully move to the middle lane and floored it to express my objection.

on federal roads, i obey the speed limit and drives mundanely, lifeless.......but on the highways, my feet is just too heavy which in turn makes me alert and very responsive. by that i broke the law.....

..nah..that plan is gone in to wind... too many obstacles (mechanical), impossible to fix here (from my experience and asking around),but idea was just to have powerful engine under the hood, while driving just normal...i found that more kool than speeding up like crazy...i did speed up few times , but pretty much on the empty road (PD highway), where visibility is few km at 2 long straight parts, so i wasn't moving anyone to side or flashing or stuff like that..also, i did speed up over normal when i was in, well, our gathering conwoy, simply because i had to, otherwise ill fall back... hehehehehe :)

..its getting rather interesting to see how many people who are UDM car club members, cant see whole point of who is REALLY hogging and who really holds responsibility in case such as this one...its very hard to say anything, if you have difficulty to understand that faster car is not a factor for giving advantage if car in front of you already rolling at allowed peak speed...no wonder so many car accidents on the road..

Ecco, from my point of view and I'm sure many others here,

1) You are the hogger from any point of view. Hogger means blocking the lane, how can the speeders be hoggers? I dont get you there?

2) The rest are the law breakers and we dont mind it.

Nuff said, hehehe

my ride hardly hit 110 and prefer to stay at the middle lane at most of the time ...need to drive safely as need to get back home to my family ..they need me ...

With all due respect bro Ecc0, we are govern by the law of the land and the law says, hogging is wrong. The utmost right lane is used as a passing lane and not travelling at the limited speed of the highway without "any worries in the world". It is against the law to be on the right lane all the way, even at speed exceeding the permissible limits :4: .. btw, that counts for 2 summons already ...speeding n hogging ... :4:

Lets not get side tracked from the main Q "....continously Breaking the Law" . .... :top:

i ask this same question to a few traffic police when i was stopped for speeding and I was informed that one is not allowed to drive on the right most lane at max permissible speed ignoring faster car who would like to pass aka road hogging...becoz highway code defines that the right most lane is for overtaking purposes only...

on that...i dont go on highlight frenzy to ask ppl to move over but i use my indicator to right to signal my intention and it works most of the time and i only do this when the car in front is road hogging meaning that he/she can drive on the left lane...the problem is when some joker thinks they own the road and started their highlight frenzy to force u off the road when there is no possibility to drive on the left...

Like many have said, fast lane is only for overtaking.

If you want to drive at 110km/hr, can always use the middle lane. Simple as that.

As for breaking the law, everyone does it even the VIPs and "VVIPs". Notice how fast they are going with the police escort!!

...i see how it all goes..well..in that case, I can conclude this:

1) Im hogger, so if you see range rover on the road, doesn't give a eye blink for your flashing, and keeping locked at 110km/h (or any given speed limit), I assure you its me and im not going to change lane , so do your acrobations, as you will :)
2) Everyone who's doing those over speed limit acrobations is outside of law, if nothing else, so as i can see, it just need to take some time to people understand that properly. Till then there is no real purpose to discuss that yet :)

Hmm... 2 wrongs don't make a right, bro Ecc0, with all due respect.

Road hogging, even at the max 110km/h permissible speed, is wrong

Speeding to overtake at the outer most lane, if it exceeds 110km/h is also wrong

Both these wrongs can't make a right - it's like the unstoppable force meeting the immovable object - what happens then?

The answer: an accident.

Take care when you guys drive on the road!

From Taiping to KK.. i was driving not more then 70km/h in front of a lane hogger so that he can follow my speed.. i guess that was his last time hogging..Ikut Kiri Kecuali memotong la..

The moral of the story is - Speeding is speeding whether it is the left, center, right or even emergency lane. Those permitted to speed are VIPs, VVIPs, those with an emergency, emergency vehicles and those escorted by the police.

The bottom line is - The right lane is the OVERTAKING lane not the FAST lane. So the only time you are allowed to be on that lane is when you need to overtake. The lane should be empty except for vehicles overtaking the one in front of them to get back into the middle lane.

Question - What if you are on the middle lane and you want the overtake the car in front of you and that car is already travelling at 110kmh? Physics dictate you will have to travel more than 110kmh to overtake using the right lane. So does that mean you will have to break the law to overtake?

I'm curious as in Kuching City we have no highways. We have stretches of road with turning-offs almost every 100 or so meters so most people who need to drive to the speed limit use the right lane. Using the left lane means slowing down and speeding up every 100 or so meters because drivers want to enter the turning-off or there are those exiting the turning-off.

Salut
