Waaa...lucky guy Zogg! Not only get to drive GTV but asked to keep revs above 4,000! :p The GTV was one heck of a car even by today's standards.

For everyone benefit though, strictly speaking it is an antique car but don't qualify as a classic.

Antique = more than 25 years old
Classic = 1930 to 1948
Vintage = 1919 to 1930
Veteran = pre-1919

Here's something interesting:

Among the Marques (Brand names) of cars that are usually considered "Classic" by the "traditionalist group" are:

Alfa Romeo - Auburn - Bentley - BMW - Buick - Cadillac - Cord - Delahaye - Duesenberg - Graham - Hispano-Suiza - Jaguar (car) - LaSalle - Lincoln (automobile) - Mercedes-Benz - MG (car) - Morgan - NSU - Packard - Pierce-Arrow - Renault - Rolls-Royce - Stutz

So both are there. But where is Ferrari? :D

But the official definitions is just for our interest only. Better we call all old, sexy, desirable cars "Classics", right? :p

Osflanker's Alfa Sud ti 1.5 twin webbers is fun. Still thinking of that car la....the carbs were like...praaa!!! praaa..!!! not vroom...vroom anymore. Sexy orgasmic growl!!!

How did alfasud got his name? Any body knows!!!!!!!

sud = south

alfa that is made in the southern italy giving employment to workers (who are not skilled or qualified!). so you know the poor quality. fittings are not proper, no qc! just the handling and motor is excellent from the engineers.
these cars are made to run on the mafialand of sicily's twisty roads.

whilst german cars, generally speaking, are made mostly for touring to run on the autobahn high speed ways. VWs, audis, bmw, benzs

I still can remember my dad bought a brand new Alfasud 1.5 in 1982 and the was price about RM27k at City Motor, Ipoh.:)

1.3 Sud..
look like 'initial D' car.

did any Alfas have 6 potter engine?
always hear twin spark engine what its mean? using double spark plug?

their V6s, though robust, are not as advanced as the BMW's.

I dunno if alfas did produce 6 potter but if i not mistaken all Twin spark series engine are all come with 4 cylinder inline engine. I drive 155 twinspark b4 for a year...love it but this car very unreliable.

I got very limited knowledge on Twin Spark, correct me if i am wrong.....Twin Spark mean the engine come with two spark plugs per cylinder ( this related to power stroke, higher compression, second extra compressed mix by 2nd spark plug, higher thermodynamic efficiency and bla bla bla bla i also blur lah:confused: ).

You can feel the engine will surge powerfully forward on hitting the lebih kurang 4500RPM mark...yeeeeehaaaaaaaaa right up to the RPM limiter.

BMW suck and Alfa also suck larrr....buy myvy, cute and safe fuel.:D

But they sound sportier than the BMWs (except the engines for the M cars... now those are orgasmic:D )....

Wiki:

Later in the same year, the GTV-6, a version of the GTV with the SOHC V6 2.5 L engine from the Alfa 6 luxury sedan, was released. As a result the hood received a bulge to clear the top of the intake and became its most pronounced feature. With Bosch fuel injection instead of the six downdraught Dellorto carburettors in the early Alfa 6 installation, the V6 was much easier to start and retained its state of tune much better. The V6 received rave reviews from the motoring press, which had previously lambasted the same engine in the Alfa 6 because of the carburettor problems. It found its true home in the GTV-6 where it could stretch its legs better than in the less sporting Alfa 6 sedan, including winning the European Touring Car Championship an unprecedented four years in succession (1982-85), the British Touring Car Championship in 1983 at the hands of Andy Rouse, as well as many other racing and rallying competitions.

And also:

One of the most beautiful sportscars you can buy at any price. The GTV is beautiful and sounds even better than it looks. The styling is unmistakably Alfa Romeo, from that trademark triangular grille, through those distinctive twin circular headlamps, to the stubby, dynamic tail treatment of the GTV. Certainly, build quality is up to the highest Teutonic standards, an essential attribute given that Alfa had Audi, BMW and Saab in its sights when designing the car.
