I am Alfa man inside the heart but driving BMW anyway not intended to change back to Alfa.
I have Alfa cap in my car, Green Clover and Scorpion emblem at my dashboard and wearing Belt with Serpent logo on it..... hahahaha

older alfas like sud, 33, 146 are expensive to maintain. so much so some mechanics don't want to fix certain things and i end up doing it myself. but i also learned a lot about cars la

156 is least expensive to maintain. much less than my current e30 (no mods). and 156 is also most rewarding. when my mechanic open his shop in usj, i drove there to let him fix things...

and then the 159 came but it's the most boring. there is no more "connection" with the machine.

i am tired of e30 and i keep thinking of honda...

oh! you had a 1.3 rust bucket sud? this is a real fun car. you should have kept it! but too bad the engine is only 1.3.

do you know francis yong? he has a sud with a QV 1.7 8V engine inside. and he took us on winding roads from kota tinggi to jemaluang showing what a sud can do. a friend of mine driving a saab 9000 turbo and me just could not catch up as he's way way ahead. the handling of the sud is so fluid. PLUS he is riding on 175 tires!!!

i missed the older alfas. they're truly intoxicating to drive and the "connection" with the machine is so obvious. that's how i ended in an alfa 33 with just one test drive and i looked no other. the fun factor outstripped all other idiosyncrocies it gives me. and of course, the temperature guage fluctuates. i have no regrets. but hardcore friends of mine owned 2 of these in succession.

need to jump in Alfa this afternoon for test drive....
to many car to test drive in the list now... including ferLAri....

couple of weeks ago just saw an 146 screaming on the road, (modified oledi I think)
it sound bloody cool...( thats why I start this thread)
maybe cousing by short strooke engine... i dont know how it sound like that.

Seles, agree about the older Alfas! As a boy, I was hooked on Alfa riding in my friend brother's Giulia. Also its the cop car in those days! Of course I should have keep the Sud as it was no rust-bucket, but back then where got money to keep 2 cars? Restored classic Alfas fetch a much higher price than restored classic BMWs. Recently a monoposto fetched US$2mil+. Classic Alfa are serious collectors cars.

Zul, try one and see. Used Alfas are very cheap. Alfas don't need modifying, they are born cool and they all scream...even my little 1.3 Sud was a boxer-4 and screamed! Common man's Ferrari ma...

Restored Alfa cost more probably bcos there are lesser of them in reasonably good condition no thanks to rust-prone russian steel used for its manufacturing.

I liked classic alfas too.. Actually, I liked a lot of the classic cars from various marques. They just don't build them like they used to. The modern cars now seem to look too similar unlike in the old days.

I don't agree fab. Restored Classic Alfa have a romantic history, thats why they valuable. They rank with Classic Merc, Porsche and Aston Martin. BMW is a great marque but doesn't have that romance. Even Ferrari, Lambo and Maserati not there.

that's true.

do you know that enzo ferarri is an apprentice from alfa? he learned his skills in alfa and when he came out on his own, alfa loaned him a few cars to win in races, but using his logo.

i have been to munich a too many times but not once i visited the bmw museum, though i passed by so many times using the S/U-bahn. it's just not a passionate brand. but when i had a chance to visit milano, i took effort to go to see alfa in showrooms but noone speaks english there. when italians learn that you love alfas, they're beemed with joy!

bmw, for all its engineering prowess, high quality and achievement, lacks in styling and emotive sounds. they just don't have a flair in these departments. how can an M3 be called a sports car when it lacks the looks and sound? sigh!

155 is the car I suppose to buy 14 years ago, but after racun by my mechanicI bought e30 inteed and stuck with BMW till now.
Before I am using the Sud then Alfetta 2.0L then 131CL with 130TC engine then 131 Hammerhead then 2.0L again then suppose to be 155 .... unfortunatelly ...

It seems that some of us after tired with Alfa then change to BMW for easy life but still got ummph.

amboi abang sedap mengata saya...where got i said E46 lousy, nanti saya kena shoot wor. abang rugi lar tak jadi beli alfa 155 dulu, dia punya engine roar masa tarik perrrgggh! syok . Tapi banyak problem ar that car.

Eh! bro meetoo what abang yazid said is true...a lot ah beng drive e46 with pony 4 pot engine but try to look like M3.hehehe.

That's the problem with M3, also AMG. A lot are badging only. But this one did look good, so I'm asking whether E46 M3 comes in 4-door or not. I'm not familiar with M3...
