Argh ! Double standard. Must bring your statement to confront them. My 1st service replaced engine oil and wiper blade for free(of course free labour), but I paid 6++ for engine oil change on 2nd service.

Fight for your right bro....gud luck..

At first, I thought every service within 60,000km would be covered by BSRI, just follow the sercive alert indicator. But my SA said free engine oil and wiper blade only for 10,000km, 30,000km and 50,000km, repair / brake pad change anytime within 60,000 km.

My 1st service at just over 4700km was free. Oil and filter changed. Even wiper blades changed after less than 3 weeks use! According to Idrive service not due for another couple of thousand km. Had wanted to change oil as a breaking in service. But Service Adviser checking my ignition key found my car entitled to free service under BSRI. Must be the way I enjoy the car so much that it need early oil change!

I am now a bit confused with this new offer from BMW on the five year BSRI. According to the SA it is similar to manufacturer's warranty. One guy there told me that if something happens to my gear box after manufacturer's warranty, it will not be covered under the BSRI scheme. However another agent told me it will be covered in the BSRI scheme but it is not written in black and white! Who am i to believe?

The closest information i get from BMW website is this quote on the BSRI, "Repairs beyond warranty covered during programme period." Is this not the same as manufacturer;s warranty?

can someone enlighten me as i am new to all these things.

Usually after the warranty period, its based on good will......nothing in black n white-if they like you and you like them, they replace the defective part even after the warranty period. So, remember, don't lose your cool in front of the service counters just because u own a bimmer.....hold back on the expletives and keep on best behaviour, keep cool....

Ok that explains it. Wow nothing in black and white. Anyway the SA just called me and said she spoke to the workshop manager which confirms it is five year warranty.

You are very lucky then...usually its a 2 year warranty and 3 years BSRI package. That grey period between the 2nd and 3rd year and just after the 3rd year depends on goodwill.

Strange strange strange...my SA from Auto Bavaria just told me in SMS (as good as in Black & White?) that the promotion is just 5 year BSRI, the warranty remains as 2 years.

IMHO to extend the warranty from 2 years to 5 years is a great leap forward for the car manufacturer, is it even logical for them to do so? Maybe the cars sold in Nov and Dec 2011 are less defective from 3rd to 5th year?

I think you should confirm with someone higher up
very often SA has misleading information
She/ He might misunderstood Warranty and BSRI.

As they say, the proof is in somebody's action, not only their talking......that's why the comment I made....not a single forummer has sold off their 320d or 520d is very important.

A 320d buyer will be looking to buy a 325d, which we don't have yet. I don't think they will want a 325i or a 335i. Not heard a single one of them dumped their 320d for a 5 series. They all still young-at-heart. 60 pushing 20....hee hee.

haha... u r true. i test drove the f30 320d. What i can say, is, awesome!!! the response of the car is a boom!! btw, not all BMW drivers are old la. i have many friends are young at heart and also young at looks. In malaysia, we only have the perception that u will only buy 5-series when u reached 40. Coz it has a feel of uncle car.

Most BMW drivers on this forum are in their late 20s, early 30s, I observe. They work hard and earn well. The famous saying is ......most successful people (except for doctors, of course, because of our long training and service in the government) make their first million by 30, make most of their money by 40 and semi-retire shortly.
