Saw a 135i coupe in Ipoh, num plate WRU 3xxx~!!! it look small when park with other Japan car~!!!!

Hi Folks,

The unit that the Sapura director is driving around now, is up for sale. Went for a test drive about 2 weeks back. They're trying to foist it off at RM 406k o.n.o Interested parties can call direct.

Anyway, me and the maam's personal impressions from the test drives are:

The 135i is very, very fast and the power delivery from the engine is very rapid without any indication of turbo lag at all. The twin-turbo setup provides a much more smoother power build up compared to the typical turbo charged conti e.g. the GTI, A4, TT, etc. Grip level is impressive for a small car with huge power. Only action to occur was on corners. This threw a bit of surprise for me as the car went into understeer instead of the expected oversteer from the RWD setup. Apart from that, roll was minimal.

Steering communication, incredibly precise and very communicative. You can feel very clearly what the car is doing. Brakes......my GOD, it is AWESOME! It it is so much better than the ones found on the E46 M3! very easy to modulate and grippy as hell when needed. Tried a few sharp taps along the way with almost minimal fade.

The only 2 points that we did not like about the car was:

Transmission. The auto box, (I think it is DCT?) was slightly vague at the point of shift. This was the killer point as both she and myself drives it manually despite having the auto function, force of habit! Found it difficult to regulate the power demand upon shift as I was having trouble synching the pedal to the gear shifts. This may be just me, so keep and open mind if you're considering this car. If it was manual trans, I believe it would be 99% there!

Outer looks. This was the 2nd killer point. It is quite hard to take this car seriously when it looks like a squashed 3-series even though it packs so much more! Despite all the so called design ideas that went into this car, IMHO it should've been slightly lower and sleekier to make and even more attractive package.

All things said and done, the 135i is still a great car. For my case, it would probably be a done deal if it had an MT on it. Unfortunately, having asked the SA there, he said yes possible but have not heard a peep from them on it at all.

Test track : AKLEH
Time : 0900, Sunday morning

primus, i tested the very same car on the very same test track. i noticed that the car is unstable at 200 ++ km/h on akleh.

did u notice that? do u think it's because of the road condition or the car itself?

agreed with primus that the power delivery is very smooth. would hv bought 1 but i couldnt justify the price.

cheers

I believe it is a combination of AKLEH and also the run flats which does not do a very good job of absorbing the small uneveness. Tried an M6 on that track before and had almost similar experience.

So? GTR?

went to Ingress yesterday to view the 135i displayed in their showroom..all i can say is,WOW!!! tho some don't like the apparent squashed shape of the car,i do think the car looks so much more sinister in person, which i like very very much.the red i think is the perfect colour, combined with the cf bits in the boot spoiler and rear diffuser.simply awe inspiring for such a compact car..

i didn't test the car tho..that would've been nice but i was pressed for time.but looking at it gave me goosebumps..the front six-pot calipers, the haunched stance..all simply awesome.the interior IMO is the best from in terms of design.its snug but smart.i like the seats, which hugs my small frame just nice(1.74cm,69kgs) and the steering wheel is simply awesome with its seude rim and some type of built in shift light thingy.horrors of horror tho that there is an auto shifter!! i would've thot a manual tranny would be more in character with the car..nontheless,can't have it all,can we? tho if i were to spend that kind of money on a smallish coupe,i'd stick to my guns and insist on a manual.

i must say,the guys/gals at Ingress were great..even tho i went there not 'dressed to kill' so to speak plus i went there with my brother who was similarly attired(plus ponytail!!),we were cared to very very well indeed.

good visit..
