i agree .. those older mercs like w124 w126 has less electronics part and can last like forever .. lol ..
so i wonder what happens to e60s 10 years later? no value at all?? ..

keekee was so pissed off with his e60 until this forum also he don't wanna visit anymore?
he said he's getting a lexus in this forum .. so dunno lah

machines are not build to last forever, that applies to humans too so workshops for BMW is same like hospitals for us....The 100 million dollar question is how happy were you before you die! some gets happy by driving bmw some by gambling, chicks and so on...so maybe bro kee keee gets happy by driving his lexus or whatever brand while smiling (ke ke keeee)...:top:

phas3r I see you in LYN whacking johnkor a lot. good job :p

Anyways. BMW is like Malaysia. You love your country, but you don't necessarily have to love the government. Especially if it requires substantial workshop time, and if parts start to fail.

But yeah, a BMW has an effective lifespan, and those are its best years, so make the most of it. It may be temperamental, but that's what you get for pushing the technological envelope. After having three Mercs in the past decade, I've had a string of four BMWs recently, and while they throw tantrums and are sometimes belligerent, I think I enjoy a prop better than a 3 point star. The glory days of W124 tanks are over, sales are now based on gimmickery and 007 gadgets, so while they've taken the super-reliability away from us, there's still the spirit of the brand left. Right now, I'd rather have the Ultimate Driving Machine than the Future of the Automobile :p

Sorry to hear abt your car, keee. Had a fuel pump issue myself when I got my preowned diesel early this year. Took AB almost a mth to diagnose the problem ..turn out it was the pressure pump in front rather than the fuel pump below the hind seats. Was looking at the wrong place all the while! They had BMW Malaysia and AB top technical guys involved and issue went all the way to Germany. My car is now world famous lah!
No more trouble since..thank God.

i saw a brand new F10 broke down on the road and being towed away.

Here we go again.Looks like BMW still haven't learn their lesson. Keep this up and they WILL get outsold by Mercedes and Audi.

A lot of us here like to talk s*** on Mercedes, but at least they learned something from their mistake. They had their share of rubbish cars (starting with the W210 a.k.a "mata belalang"), but their new models(starting from the W204 C Class) have improved by leaps and bounds as they're trying to recapture their glory days of building bombproof cars. The last time I checked, they were actually rated better than Lexus in the reliability front.

If BMW could build cars that are both fun to drive and reasonably reliable, they wouldn't have any competition, period. Having said that, I'll continue to drive BMWs until i get one that causes me so much heartache I can no longer tolerate it.

I still driving my Old Faithful E30 for the last 20 years, my Black Widow E34 still serving my family well and now my New Found Love E90. Enjoy them all every minute of it. Enuf said

The general rule of thumb in purchasing a new car model. is avoiding the first batch due to faults, seems to ring true, more often than not. And it's not confined to just non-luxury cars. BMW is all about innovation -Out with the Old & In with the New coule very well be their motto for many aspects of the marque. And then, there ate the hopefuls amongst us, who run the gauntlet of being owner of, 'one of the first 20 units of the latest 5-series in Malaysia'.

....in a way, while we might feel sorry for them and empathise with what must be feelings of regret and frustration, I sort of believe these guys, while they're certainly not ecstatic over their brand new cars keeling over(in PUBLIC!), they might not be THAT mad in the first place....all the stuff above considered. Perhaps, deep deep down, a few of them were already expecting some faults with such a new unit.

Hope Triumphs Over Experience

Yeah i actually did complain from the URL u given few days ago. Got called from customer service from BMW malaysia. I think he can't help at all so i asked him to get the right person can help ... so Mr. Wolfgang Schlimme did call but seems like he can't help much either. Just told me he would follow up but still no courtesy car given coz i guess he probably know i am getting my car back yesterday night. He called before im on my way to go collect my car. I did ask why no courtesy car during the period ... he didn't answer but he did apology only. Nothing else. so i guess case close tat way?

======================================================================

Mind I input some information here although the case closed in 2008... I was found the information last time(1month ago but removed after weeks later) the bmw wikipedia has notice about "RECALL" for all model with engine N52(or not sure N54?) due to the fuel pump leaking. The engine produce end 2007(car manufacturer in 2008)

Did anybody received the RECALL from our BMW Malaysia yet?

I posted this in another forum

As for me I think that new cars in MY are overrated.

What makes ppl think that buying new cars are better and are afraid of used cars due maintenance?

Tell me how many ppl u know in MY that never serviced his/her new car even after 5 years? almost 0 (for me it is NULL) because they bought these expensive cars with their LIFE. Cars are expensive in MY and we all know it.

And maintenance is not that expensive. Gearboxes don;t fail every month or even every year :) that is the most expensive part that could fail apart from engine and some electronics.

Plus remember you bought the car for much much less than the paranoid guy who bought new to save on pre-meditated assumption that 2nd hand cars will always be problematic, not properly maintained or accident damage. The depreciation can be as high as 30% per year sometimes especially for certain makes and models.

On accident damage, unless the G or Insurance Co take a more pro-active action, buyers will be safer like those in the UK. But hey then again small accident and fender bender don;t count as when ppl drive, bad things happen.

If you happen to know a car that has been in a heavy acc but not a total loss, by all means go buy it but pay less..a lot less. That is a bargain awaiting to be found.

Heavy acc could be a high speed highway crash front or rear, as long as there no serious structural damage such as crumpled or bent chassis, then the car is repairable and as safe as when the car was new.

tell tale sign of a or bent chassis is when you see the front or rear glass has been shattered due to the chassis being distorted around the windows frame. then please do not buy this car! This is a category B or A which is a total loss in the UK by British Motor Insurer whereby a B total loss category could only be sold as parts ONLY while category A means the car is a scrap and no parts maybe sold.

Category C and D is where D is minor accident and totally safe after approved repair and category C is a serious accident but salvageable and can be repaired and be road-legal after special vehical inspection approva. But in the UK there is no rasuah so you can make your own judgement if the system were to be implemented here.

But then if you have money and have loads to spare then by all means please go ahead and buy new so enviroment-conscious ppl like me can buy and help turning the earth greener by recycling
