Hey fellas... Just fitted this Wurth Soundproofing pad to my 7er, had it done in the bonnet and boot... Total cost was around RM450... Used a total of 3.5 pads, have the other half with me in case I need to add it elsewhere... PM me if u need further details..Cheers.. Boon Hanps.. Don't expect too much from this as it's more to protect the bonnet against the heat of the engine, mutes the engine just a tiny bit... After all it's sponge on an adhesive pad.. But makes the bonnet and boot look so much better...

Have you done a sound level test i.e. decibel level before and after to compare?

Some people says that it work and some says it about the same.. BTW, the product i use is superloon or something that sound like that..

BTW, the remaining part i use it as a working mat when i need to work under the car.. :D

Did not really have time to check with a sound level check, only noticeable difference is that when you knock on the panel it has a more 'solid' sound than a non-treated panel...

A rather expensive working mat don't u think... Hahahahaaha!!

Cheers..

Yes it does sound more solid and feel much cooler after you install it.. :p

When not used as a working mat, I used it to line the boot to reduce the sound... Where can you get two function for the price of one.. :p :p

helo boon han,

might be true it protects heat from the outside.. but would it not trap heat from the engine bay?

the thing is, my warranty had just expired.. and i m trying to do anything that would keep the car (especially the engine) in good form.. and if the pads would keep the overall temperature lower, i would want to get them.. cheers!!

oopss, just realised u said it protects the bonnet from the heat from the engine..
is this to protect paintwork?

still concern about 'overheating' the engine area..

I guess it's also to protect the paintwork.. Don't think there'll be much of an issue on 'overheating' as your fans are there to prevent this right...

To reduce temp in your engine bay, you could wrap up your exhaust in fireproof fabric - exhaust wrap. Dunno where you can get them. Supposed to improve performance somehow.

that may cause the extractor to crack.... cos heat is trapped within the pipes...
