Thanks M3addict,
i always thought it was timing-belt... How much does it cost for timing-belt change and periodically how often to change? IS it like other cars 80K or so?
Just need you advise on the first Service - What should i generally look for,
in terms of proper service to make sure I have no probs later?

dunno what the cost....
mine still running stock....now mileage only (or already?) 117k....
my old mazda (sold edy) never change the timing chain....
if u r curious better go to reputable w/shop for check-up...

for general service need to wait from sifu....
as my experience, most important is to always look at the temp. meter and warning light then if nothing came out i'll drive my car happily.....kekeke

my 2 cent.......

position switch

How to check it bro?ist position switch right?is it visible from outside or that is inside the gearbox? Is this a common problem for N42?Has anyone replaced that before?

I was experience this in my 325i. just change position switch and evrything was settle. It was outside gearbox ( Underside ) btw i kena rm850 for that item.

sadly after serviced my hickup problem and jerking is gone.no missing D.no leaking at the bottom engine..gear shifting is ok but i got weird sound like a bearing when revving usually when in slow rpm..sound like ziuuu..ziuuu..the revving sound when idling is ok even when at high rpm..sound pretty nice..no eratic revving so maybe its not MAF. no problem with acceleration..no power loss..just that bearing revving sound is a bit annoying/horrifying..

shit happened again..transmission error but D didn't disappear..on my way back to Kl..freeking jam and freeking slow internet connection..coolant leaking from expansion tank..don't know what to do..M1 checked before and no leaking..now everything is fucked up..big $$$ flying..adoi..sakit kepala..

ichi82, send your car back to the workshop where you done the position switch for re-checking.

based on my experience, there should be no-extra charge if your new problem is due to the part recently changed.

See Mr. Lee the workshop manager or Ah Meng if you have any problem.

If it is the torque converter gone, then it has nothing to do with your GB servicing where you change the ATF and filter.

The torque converter could be damaged due to the failing of the GB mounting bushing.

I got the T/C changed for 2nd hand and it OK. Also check the aux pump when you changed the T/C.

BTW, why the coolant comes out?

coolant came out from the hose connected to the expansion tank. the stuff that ah meng did last time did not caused this as the have done the inspection. remember before i had to go to hartamas workshop cause emergency..apparently they didn't check/diagnose my gearbox temperature. i had about a 1k km running before i went to M1 and they diagnose and my GB temp is too high..115 -120 c. he said correct temp is around 80-84 c. went to him yesterday and all temp are ok.GB temp is only 81 c. 1st he said change GB. my heart like want to drop already. then he explained few stuff about the tork converter and how it was damaged. he was afraid that water might be in GB already. after that we open the oil sum under GB and saw the GB oil is in perfect condition so he said possibility that water haven't go in to GB yet and maybe thats why i don't have problem when in high speed. there are some leakage near the tork converter so he said try to fix that and tork converter.he did not bring down my GB yeterday coz it was too late and will bring it down this morning to view all the leakage and the tork converter inssue. bro jarance when your tork converter gone before does it make a bearing sound?

ichi82, my problem was the aux pump for the GB. The copper bushing failed when I did a slam down and overtaking many car.

ATF oil was gushing out from the GB because of the higher pressure.

The workshop that did my repair (change the pump) notice that there was still some leak when they assemble
back the GB. They found it was due to the T/C sleeve was slight worn out.

If your GB temperature is high, better check the thermostat at the heat exchanger located in the radiator.

If your T/C sleeve is worn out, check the GB mounting bushing. This item are wear and tear part
which need to be replaced periodically.

pity u ichi82....seems ur car got alot problem..............

shit happened when i did not go to the proper mech when the prob occur. if not then this would not happened. learn the lesson the hard way. who would know that the GB oil temp is so high that time and i drove happily all this while.anyway now got a good mech that i can refer to. will not go to any workshop even for a simple thing..it can be easily detected if the 1st workshop in hartamas did a scan to my car when they service my radiator.
