To be frank, a big majority of BMW owners aren't enthusiasts.. They buy the roundel, not the car... ;) And DIY isn't in the options list...

And for Malaysians in general, DIY is the last thing on their mind cos labour is dirt cheap here. So they won't bother getting their hands dirty or sweat over it even if these DIY jobs are simple jobs which a 12 year old can do with some common sense..

very true. the cheap labor here doesnt do any good anyone when it comes to getting to know your car hands on. the general public is just spoil with choices and mechs waiting in line to do the slaughter.

Hi Guys,

Just happen to come across this post, can I check with Seech or those in the know if the idlling is erratic when at a standstill with air-con on, say hovering at 600 RPM and ocassionally blipping to 900 RPM before settling down to 700 RPM, that the main could be due to a dirty MAF pse ?

No harm cleaning the MAF but maybe due to ICV, idle control valve.

Tks for reply, replaced with new ICV but blips persist although less then before the change. Otherwise,
the engine would idle at 1,100 - 900 RPM before slowly sliding down to hover ard 700 RPM. The other thing I noticed was excessive vibrations that came with the varying RPM.

Anyway will try to DIY MAF and even change related parts like the Idle regulating valve etc.

Regards
