hi sifus!!Q1: May I know is it common that white smoke coming out from the exhaust in the early morning when I just started my car or during cold weather like after rain? Q2: May I know is it common that metal cracking sound from engine after a drive like 20-30km?Your answer is very much appreciated!! Thanks~~Cheers :top:

Your first question, it is common for the car to spewing out vapour in cold or rainy weather.

Can I ask when your car is in motion is it spitting out white smoke? If it is then maybe u need an overhaul u should get it checked.

2nd Q. after 20-30km what sort of metal cracking sound? When my rocker arms broke there were a lot of metal bits bouncing around in the engine. So i got a top overhaul.

Your car is there a decrease in power? Like struggling up a hill?

before i got an overhaul, my car sounded like a boxer engine. Like a WRX without the turbo and power. my car was running on 5cylinders. Just get your car checked at a specialist.

I hope this helps. anything else just give us a pm.

Q1: Yes. Only happen in the early morning & after rain. Smoke stopped after the engine is warmed up.

Q2: Engine cracking sound happen not when I am driving. It happen only after I turn off my engine..then I can hear a little bit of metal cracking in engine...something like 'dat...dat....dat' I guess is becoz of the engine is hot..

Anyway, no losing power neither driving uphill nor flat road. I hope no issue to the engine. However, just in case, usually how much cost for overhaul?

Thanks~~

The white smoke is water vapor that has collected in the walls of the exhaust pipes after parking overnight. In cold weather. The vapor is kind of saturated so when it exits the tail pipes thus can be seen. No harm.

The cracking sound , which are occasional 'tick' is the due to the contraction/expansion displacement of the heat shields/guards and the exhaust pipes. It is audiable after you shut off the engine. No harm.

bros, it could be any of 1001 reasons. it is impossible to advise over the forum solution to a 'cracking sound' ...'ticking' sound....or any other sound unless you've heard it all from your engine (wow!...an orchestra!).

to get a better diagnosis and answer to your problem, please send the car to the nearest BMW specialist.

someone once told me, where continental cars are concerned, when you first notice something not-so-right, quickly get it rectified or you might end up having to repair other parts related on the long run which equals a bigger repair bill at the end of the day. i guess this applies to all things mechanical. hell ! it applies to life too!!
