Greetings to all Forumers,Just a question to ask... Why every morning I start my car there is white smoke coming out? I mean Msia is not a cold country, but why the white smoke? Do this white smoke means cold? When I was in US, everyday I start my car there is white smoke coming out, and I know is due to the cold weather... But why in Msia also the case? Any shifus can help to answer my question? Thanks!

Usually water makes white smoke, oil smoke has a blue tint.
Sounds like water sneaking in to yer cylinders overnight.

Check yr coolent water usage and the inside of the oil filler cap for emulsion.

Tom, be sure about the colour and whether it's smoke or vapour. Visible vaporization is rare in our weather. More likely to be oil burn as DY says. If persistent, you may have blow-by.

Easiest place to check is the tail pipe.
If Black and dry is soot and heavy on right foot.
If Black and wet is oil and need to check engine.
if Grey and you do alot of highway travel or very light right foot is good.
if White and you do alot of highway travel is running a bit lean on mixture.
If white and around town, means is very lean and light foot.

hello bro...
can u please explain more on those pls...mine also got white smoke coming out fm the exhaust... run it for few minutes, switch off and restart again, the smoke will gone...fyi, i just drive around town only..thanks...

Its water vapor. I've noticed it on my car too, sometimes, u can see other E90's accelerate off in the mornings and have water dripping out from the tail pipes. U can take a mirror and put it close to the tail pipe to see the condensation.

Water is a good by product of complete combustion. Its a good thing to see hehe.

aiya... it's your valve seals.. replace them.. that's means it's a top overhaul..

cost over night, the oil leaks down the valve seal shaft.. hence the morning white smoke...once warm up no more smoke..
as for blue smoke, it's signs for piston rings..

okay ? no more guessing...

mbm8800... aiya.. is your oil level low ? got check ka ? if not, then dun worry la..

Thanks for all the replies guys...

Have mine check and the reason is... OIL LEVEL TOO LOW!!! HaHaHa... Just like pussy had said... Because of the bloody service thingy not up yet, so the level is a little bit low, hence the white smoke... No wonder I dont have this problem last time, and just recently... I had my service like er... half a year ago? Perhaps I need to insist on the service no matter what this time round!

Thanks again people!!! Have fun with you UDM!!!

HUAT AR!!!

Anyway, why should low oil level cause white smoke? Pussy didn't say that. In fact white smoke = oil burn = low oil level...

hahaha... like dat ka bro??? u almost give me heart attack u know!!! bro, do come 2 my house 2moro since u r in malacca this wednesday right??!! pls check d mcca tt thread... ( sorry, terhijack thread ni plak!! )

If the smoke was indeed oil burn, you'd see it even during afternoons etc and not just mornings...

How much oil was short btw and how long did you travel since your last svc? I haven't had any decrease at all in oil levels in my car at all, but then it had only travelled 6k+ kms when i did my first oil change.

My oil level is around 2/3 of the guage... At that level, it wont trigger the alarm, so will not have any indication...

According to my technical friend, the oil low level is not a thing to worry and that causes the white smoke cos of the condensation in the engine itself...

My white smoke only occurs in the morning...

I really dont believe there is a leakage that causes the white smoke lo... Really need hell of alot of works to dismental it to check... So I am going to presume what my technicia said la...

Dont scare me people... HeeHee...
