I did my silver car via an authorised Macguier detail shop. 3 to 4 layers coated on it but frankly speaking I do not like the outcome. The paint turns 'sandly feel' in less than 2 months. What I do to preserve the smooth surface is coat it up by 'Polymer Seleant' once or twice a month.

Sandy feeling? As in the paint feels quite rough to the touch?

If not mistaken, our cars are always exposed to the dirt and elements, more so if it's daily driven and not kept indoors, under cover of the garage/roof. I would say, the only time my car feels super smooth like a baby's backside is every time I buff off the wax after each claying session.

Other than that, it's a rough feeling on the paint I'm afraid. :(

Now, each time after applied sealant I can feel what u meant 'smooth like baby's backside'. Paint is still ok but it is silver and hard to make it shine like black or darker color. I am still finding tips from pro like you and KC on how to make silver car shine.
