Hi detailing sifu's and guru's ... Am just wanting to start to wax and/or polish my car so i have a few question to ask... so here goes1) Which is better to bring out d shine in a Silver car ... wax or polish?2) I've seen few cars done up with smartwax ... where can i get this product or even Zaino?3) What do you think of wash&wax product? is it really that simple whereby it washes and wax the at same time?thanks for your time :D

1. Polish and wax are 2 different things
Polish=abrasive, does not protect paint
Wax=non-abrasive, protects paint

I like carnauba waxes but they require regular re-waxing.

2. Not sure but you could try looking online.

3. Its a case of too good to be true.

B33,
for better results you have to surface-prep before the final wax/finisher. here are the steps I go thru for my silver ride:-

1. Hose down car with lots of water to clear surface debris/dirt/mud/poo.
2. Shampoo with lots of suds from a dedicated auto shampoo and NOT dishwash liquid or hair shampoo!
3. Rinse off with lots of water.
4. While surface is still wet, use a clay bar to clean/smoothen and rinse off, dry with cotton towel.
5. Use a scratch remover/polish to further clean/smooth the surface and clear light swirls/scratches.
6. Use a microfiber cloth to remove polish completely.
7. Protect the smooth shiney surface with a good wax and let cure for about 30 minutes before wiping off residue with clean microfiber cloth.
8. Move backwards and admire the visual rewards with a chilled can of 100+ or Bear beer!

Best value/performance brands are Autoglym / Meguiar's / Turtle ICE [in alphabetical order].
No sweat man.......

Thanks for the detailed step :top::top::top: ... Will do as follow. I have one question however after done all the steps as mentioned above ... Can we wash our car after 2-3 days or leave it as it is at least a week or two? I'm asking cos last time i sent d car for polishing and the result was great and it was very smooth to the touch but after i wash it couple of time (i wash my car at least 3 times a week) the smoothness was gone (but d shine is still there). Am using mcguiers car shampoo nxt. thanks again for your time :D

I use Meg's NXT wax v1.0 and after 12 hours you can wash the car again if you get your kicks from it. To keep the smooth slippery shine, use Ultimate Quick Detailer from Meg to retain the just-waxed quality on your ride after washing. Then step backwards again to watch the water beads tango! Ole!

Bro, why not consider asking KC or Seech to have a go at detailing your ride? I would safely say that the end results would be nothing short of awesome!

But silver cars are kinda difficult to make them shine. My E36 also I give up waxing d. :D

hmmm... thanks for that idea :)

Haha. No worries bro. Planning to meet KC sometime this week to get another bottle of ONR. Almost finish d. Down to last 2/3 caps. Hahaha.

Anyways, didn't know you also had a E46.

Whoa, so you currently have E30, E34 and E46? Wow, you could probably enter into BMW Car Magazine's What's In Your Garage feature bro! :D

KC bro,

Any chance of having another group buy for rotary? Might be tempted to invest this time around. How much will a rotary cost, roughly?
