Guys, not sure whether this is a right forum, just got a volks and in the midst of planning to restore it, noticed rust that needs to be treated, where can I get this done, I mean a place where an old timer who knows his job well with good workmanship.I did restored an e21 however not too happy with the work done on the rust treatment as the rust is visible now.My 1st plan is to treat the rust, a new coat of paint (color not decided yet maybe goin for a 2 color tone), new tyres and new shocks and lowering springs.Any leads on a Volks bodywork specialist for a start?

Guys you are in luck, before our Zoggee tai kor started doing donuts in BMW, he was into VW Beetle. After winning over his wife in the beetle, he sold it and started his donuts career  So I guess he had ulterior motives for the beetle

He spent more on the beetle than his E30 (almost, but not by much). Our VP JeffreyEwe is also into Beetle.

COOL!!! My very first car.. a 69 Beetle... The most trying times of my life!!! Bugger's favourite habit was breaking down!!! Well... was a student so didn't really pay (literally) much attention to her. Hehe... beemer04, try kayu ara. Pak Abu's the name. One of the houses down the middle with the yellow bug fitted with a Porsche spoiler. Dunno if he's still there.

Guys thanks for the leads, anyway the rust are only located at the dr and stepper hinges.

I shall try and post pics on the car nx wk just to share.

I too am a VW Beetle owner. I have had my 1967 Beetle 1300 since the late 90s. Bought it in good running condition for the princely sum of RM1,000.00 from the previous owner who was emigrating!

For bodywork, I did it at Ah Ping's in Old Klang Road (not far from MidValley Mega Mall, just after a Honda Service Centre, next to/slightly behind HSL Electronics, just before the traffic light leading to Pearl Point). His tel. no.: 03-79830072.

For mechanicals/drivetrain/suspension, I go to Ah Sang's in Puchong. His tel. no.: 03-80623733.

that's the same mechanic to go to also....

his workmanship is quite ok and the price also reasonable....

should check it out.... B)

i think ah sang has got a set of dual-carb sitting around his workshop the last time i visited him to do my alternator..... he got the 1.6 upgrade kit also.... :beaten: :beaten:

as for precaution, there's a VW mech that you shouldn't go to.... it's expensive and the workmanship sucks big time.....

his shop is in cheras.... near JJ, Maluri.....

got my clutch changed there..... that KNNCCB changed a spoilt unit into my VW and charged me like new set.....

after repair, problem still there..... clutch still cannot function properly..... and the worst thing is that...... in highway some more....... :beaten: :beaten:

i'm just speaking from my experience but i also have the same confirmation from the people from the VW club.....
