[WTA] What's happening to my E30?

Hey guys, yesterday when i was back in my hometown (S'ban)...... i gave my E30 a full check up & started up the engine after 2 months didnt crank it up.Dammit, after cranking it for the 3rd time...... the engine finally up but macipet, it sounded like it's running with 3 cyclinder only la. How come this is happening? Everything was in tip-top condition when my dad passed me the car. Then, my radiator seems like "kong" edi where i kept pouring water into it but couldnt able to full it up. All those rusted color water flowed out after the engine is hot. Anyone care to share how come this is happening & why? Please....... :getyourfactsright: :beaten: Btw, since the car's insurance & roadtax have been settled by my dad (as was informed by him), i'm planning to drive it up here for further restoration & necessary repairs. Hmmmm....... thinking of a "newer & slightly more power" engine swap into my E30 most probably. Still deciding but no confirmation yet as just recently bought a '96 Camry for job travelling purpose. Another thing which i'm tyring to figure out is whether the original BMW roundels originated from E36 able to fit onto my E30 or not? I'm planning to purchase those carbon-fiber design roundels for my E30 since the original being stolen & color faded.

Check and see if the oil is still ok looking... Brown/dark brown and not milky brown....

Try to get a nearby BMW mechanic to check... Any S'ban members to help him out??? Rezzy?

Aiks, i've forgotten to check the engine oil ler. Darn, didnt think of that also....... Thanx Fabian for the reply. Btw, if say my engine oil still in good condition, what couldnt be wrong with it?

I would prefer a slightly better power engine for my E30 but couldnt decide it yet. My dad told me that the current 1.8L is pretty underpowered for its chassis eventhough it's a manual transmission. Can those 2L or 2.5L engines originated from E36 able to fit into my E30's engine bay? If possible, i would like to plunk in the power steering system onto my current E30 since mine doesnt comes with it.

1. check if there is water mixture in your engine oil... check the dip stick.
2. check the radiotor hose.
3. maybe spark plugs already karat.
4. in seremban, call +XXX-XXXXXXX for Sam. Inform him Pratheep gave you the number.

Zoggee korkor, not to say that i dun wan my M10 but since i'm going to keep the E30 for my personal weekend use hor........ y not i go for better power to weight output engine leh? I'm considering on those 2.0L engines originated from E36 to be plunk into my E30. Any suggestions ka? If really i gonna plunk in any of the E36 engines into my E30, then i dun mind giving u the current M10 lor. Hehehehehe.............

AngelicDemon, thanx for ur PM. I'll contact Sam once i'm back again in S'ban & perhaps send my E30 over to him for checkup. I've just called my dad & told him to replace all the spark plugs & check whether there's any water mixture in the engine oil as adviced.

Dunno whether he'll check it up or not. Sigh! Have to do it myself pulak...... kanasai betul.

If you wanna do it, do it all the way! M50B25. No point saving a few hundred bucks :nyehehe: But be forewarned. It will not be a cheap affair

nikazwaa, whoah..... i dun think that i'll go for a 2.5L powerplant for my E30 ler. Couldnt afford the roadtax lar........ RM 900 for a year. Sigh! I'm a kicimiau working my a** out just to make ends meet ler...... just i'm a car enthuasists nia. Dreamt of owning a UDM myself.

always can masuk in a 2.5 and pay for 2.0... mmm cabuts... :dunno: :yahoo:

My dad changed the engine oil & changed a new set of spark plugs edi but i dunno whether the car still behave like last week or not. I'll check it out this coming Sunday & if still persists, i'll need to consult an experienced workshops dealing with UDM.
