sure to out-run most of the tuned malaysian or japanese cars OTR xD

im a total noob here, are there any other cheap, not cheap la but reasonable and easier way to increase the power output or torque on a E36 318i ?? and the changes are noticeble, but not drastic (the more drastic, the better :top:)

The more drastic, the better? You're contradicting your own statement la dei...

Anyway, you can mod a JDM for front end or top end performance with cheaper, simpler alternatives i.e. lifting of camshaft, skimming of flywheel, smaller wheels, etc but these steps should NEVER be taken on a UDM as the long term side effects could be disastrous & cost you a bomb later on.

There are simpler ways, but not necessarily cheaper. Try changing your ECU chip, won't cost you a bomb but not exactly cheap (RM2k-3k). This will give you quite a lot of boost, just not sure if that will satisfy your hunger for power. Cheers.

in my theory the M42 with chipped, mechanismed tune with forced induction to 300 biological horse power will out-run the E46 M3, E90 335i, ??? it weight was about = E46 M3 GTR with carbon fibre chassic, and it will out run the 325i, 328i,...:34:

Hi everyone..I've just joint the club and wish someone can just the provide me some possible reasons why my recent acquired e36 318,1997 model seem to be extremely under power. Top speed just merely around 170km/h and the torque (pick-up) is simply to poor where even any small car can easily overdo me.

Hey, I know how frustrated it can be. I feel the same too :) no worries, u r not alone, my 1997 E36 318i (original M43 engine) also can go up to 170km/h only. I know there are some parts that need to be fixed and some tuning, but who cares...I am not a race demon. My AFM definitely needs to be replaced coz the idling is not that smooth . I have not checked other stuff too. To me, the car is running smoothly currently, only missing the top speed. Perhaps when I have extra $ and time, then maybe I will find out what's wrong (or maybe get another better highpowered car?) ;)

Cheers

Thanks for the info sifus! *bows down*
what i meant was, if small changes could lead to drastic output performance, the better~ Sorry!

so, adding output power does it mean the suspension setup have to be tuned or changed too?? how much horsepower can a standard e36 suspension able to cope??

Thanks bro, sounds good but not for now :) Perhaps another higher powered car as in the original unit itself.

2.5, road tax sure gonna be killer. but its all about the fun in driving a UMD~

dont just focus on power, everyone also need to focus on the WHEEL size, more power need wider wheel, that will allow it grip better and deliver torq...., better get those 245 size
much safer to go speeding..:34:..., if something wrong or somebody put lubricant on road also was another RISK...OF....SPEEDING.....:34:

too wide and yer bimmer will look like a beach buggy. must have the right size, too much grip can snap yer neck while cornering..

Agree with Joker about focusing too much on power.

Personally I'm happy with the my m43b18 as I usually don't go above 150kmh. I prefer taking fast sharp corners in my e36 than speeding mindlessly on straights. As such I'd like to keep the 50/50 balance on my e36 when modding my car by employing passive power upgrades like exhaust and air filter changes.

Just my RM 0.02.

want to purchase DIY TOP secret power-up technic from me ?, it had boost up my ride..:34:

THE DME/ECU MAP for M43 's ECU !!!!!

look at the tuned map!!! :34:, alot of people said the E36 cannot be tune/coding/programing :stupid: he he he he..... interesting?? :34:, those bmw mech/specialist don't want to do it? or don't know?, or they drive proton/perodua/japanese car, they don't want the bmw faster then them...:34: ....maybe this can boost up those ninja turtle ride...:34:

THE TUNED M43 's FUEL MAP.....

look at the fuel map in S-mode and E-mode after tuned... on the M43 engine...

:slug:   :thefinger: :burnout:

who said e36 cannot be programming? :stupid:, some old version cannot...

NOTE:
E36 1.8L/1.9L with Bosch ME5.2.1b DME/ECU, M44 and M43 engine.
E46 1.8L/1.9L with MS43 DME/ECU, M43 engine....:34:

offcourse for those e36 328i with MS41.0 DME/ECU...:34:..that why i chose 328i...:34:

CANNOT programming ?,..., try this...

try to get this and solder it your self....

/me stabs joker in the face

Dude you're crazy :D. Anyways how good is that chip? FC better?
