UNcle Aziz, your alternator is about to go.. since you are going to restore the car... i would recommend to sent the alternator to a electrician and rebuild it. MOst of the time is the carbon brush. happened on on E32 and regret did not changed it earlier.. got stuckrd on the 3rd day of chinese new year.. sigh

If alternator got problem, better buy new as mine i bought the 2nd hand unit from my mechanic. last for only a month and somemore damaged my batteries due to overcharging fault. then have to change both battery and alternator. less hassle and more confident if travel outstation..

Uncle Aziz, do you mind sharing where did u service ur e38 in penang or butterworth ??
I am fedup with my mechanic in SP ... He cant fix my minor engine oil leaking for a year, and keep charging unnecessary items which i think has not broken down ... Just need a good and honest mechanic to service my car. By the way my car is e65.....

> Jeffrey....the most reliable one...Bayern Sdn Bhd at Sg Rambai BM.....on the left side before approaching traffic light on main road to BM town. You can approach Ah Koon ( CM).... I hv been following him for servicing my e30/e36/e39/ now e38 for the past 10 yrs ....can sell my name to him.....

Some of residues/scraps removed from e38

Congrates uncle....and don't forget to inform us if u're coming down here!

aziz, mind if i go through some of ur scrap.. got some ideas to restore the parts.. hehe especially the arms..

Alan

Alantiong ...the items reserved for you if u can restore .... I`m doubt if still can tahan for 2 tons car....

Final stage: upgrade ICE: replacing 4 unit of old speakers at F & R doors plus 12in woofer....original set of Amp still good .
Thanks to previous owner for replacing 4 sets of speakers at rear seat with good quality speakers.

Installation of Cobra Alarm system deems necessary due to poor response of lock/unlock button at the key set ( wear & tear of rubber cover)
....time consuming process due to difficulties to detect the right wires . ...installation at e39 is much easier.

Ur car has DSP as well uncle which is good. the setback is only the door speaker as it made from Philips if i'm not mistaken and will crack over the years. Please do not change the tweeters as the clarity is one of the best to me. By the way, the rear 4 subs doesn't pump enough bass for u until u add the additional sub woofer? as i never tried a good working DSP yet until today...

Anyway, ur key must be the diamond shape right? also the cover can't performing well?

Look forward to see this almost perfect condition car! :)

i have cracked the speaker issue..

remember when we try to replace the original speakers with other component sets.. it just sound aweful..

I found some solution... the 5.25 is a mid bass and not mid range.. so teh trick is to find a set of component which has a mid range and tweet build together small.. and a 5 inch woofer..

direct the mid/tweet directly to the original wires.. no cross over. then .. at the mid bass.. add capacitors around 68-100 mF to filter excessive bass.. now it sound yummy...

best part.. still using the DSP.. and all the functions..

Its true door speakers made in Belgium produce peh peh broken sound ....all tweeter units work well. 4 subwfrs replaced by 1st owner were taken out for door speakers. No replacement for 4 subwfrs instead 12in USA made woofers placed in rear section produce high quality bass sound in the air tight bonnet. Amp unit( ori set) provided still produce good sound.
