TV-on-the-move

hi guys,its me again and with almost the same friggin' topic,with regards to the i-Drive governed ICE.i've tried with ipod connection and radio reception earlier in different threads..mixed results,lets just say i'm very frustrated with the solutions available thus far,especially for a Jap-spec car like mine.the costs required are just pure madness..now for my next question,is TV-on-the-move even possible on Jap-spec cars? as we all know,the screen will be blanked out once the car moves which is very very frustrating especially for the kids.. i've seen the adverts on BMW Car mag on this but i guess these applies to UK-spec cars,and other models.if it is indeed possible,where can i have this done? anyone done this before? any pros and cons?hell,i'm almost afraid to ask man!any input will be most welcome..

Yes possible. I have not done it (yet!) but have asked. Try Obermaier in Jalan Ipoh. PM bmw_wmn58. Contact came from him and he has done it on his E60 I believe.

yup thanx..but i think his CCC is UK/Mal or converted to UK/Mal.mine is still crappy Jap.this is probably the biggest mistake that i did when i acquired my e60,getting a Jap-spec.

i hope a simple solution will be available la.. but thanx for the head's up bro.

No need to convert to UK/Mal CCC if you want just the TV-on-the-move. But if you talk to Freddie Obermaier, he will tell you not worth it just for the TV. He will try and convince you for the full upgrade. I kinda believe him too. TV reception is not that great anyway, and shows aren't too hot too. Might as well get the full CCC and then you can get the proper SatNav working. Then just a simple step away from AUX DVD changers.

understood.. well,the TV is actually for the kids to watch cartoons etc,i won't be watching it anyways since i'll be driving.

i'll make my way to Obermaier eventually,not too thrilled on driving into KL nowadays since i live in Sepang.there are some solutions that i've found on the net,not actually cheap..dunno how much Obermaier charges for it but i bet it won't be cheaper.

not that crazy about SatNav actually..all i wanted was to have ipod,dvd and tv.but even this seems a tall order.well,my mistake la..shud've avoided Jap-spec.

no doubt a CCC conversion is the best solution..but at a high cost,just weighing the pros and cons for spending so much on what is essentially entertainment via a smallish screen.who knows,maybe they can give me a good deal..

Investing in the dvd changer is quite sufficient. All my passengers are happy with it. Although I reckon your kids would also want LCD screens mounted in headrests since the I-drive screen is angled primarily for front passengers.

As for your Ipod, I thought you were going to do the integration via CDC? I understand it doesn't require conversion/updates.

i'm still undecided on the ipod cuz i'll need to sacrifice my 6cd changer and be left with just a single slot cd on the fascia.plus i understand i'll only be limited to 250 songs via the ipod connector,which kinda sucks.i've seen some other interfaces that are available but thus far,i'm just not sold.and since i've got Logic7,i'm not really ready to sacrifice the cd changer just yet.

i just don't want to rush into it cuz the whole thing is gonna cost quite a lot..i've also got plans for engine and brake upgrades so need to really plan where to spend carefully.

the dvd via acm is definitely going in..meantime just looking at the others la,ie tv and ipod.i use the ipod for gym work as well so the playlists are already there,just not ready to sacrifice the 6cdc.

Don't you need to do conversion before ACM installation?
I might get it if it's a direct fit.

Anyway tell me if you decide on the Panasonic dvd changer, I'm selling mine off and replacing it with an Alpine from UK. The changer was installed like 2 weeks ago.

i was told its a direct fitting without the need to convert the CCC..i'll have to check again.

i'm not actually much of an ICE person..never been,never was.but since the e60 has got the idrive with all it's 'wonderful' potential,i'm just gonna indulge/layan a little bit la.its been a frutrating experience thus far though..never imagined it'll cost so much for so little gain.all over a tiny screen..

i'll let u know if i decide on the dvd changer.pm me ur price la..thanx bro
