Have asked one shop in Damansara, apparently they do a lot of these kind of jobs going by their ads in Motor Trader. Full CCC conversion is around RM20K! Anyone can confirm that?

Also, TV on the move is not possible, but what was offered as an option was to fix a interface device so that you can install a DVD changer (and GPS also if you want). Sounds OK to me as I don't really needto see TV on the move anyway. DVDs are more preferred. Price? Around RM6K if no need software upgrade, RM7.5K if need. Again, comments on the price?

Or are there better alternatives around?

Thanks sifus!

1) Since yours is a jap spec, you can do it cheaper...you don't need the controller high, all wiring harnesses are in place, etc... PM me if you're interested...
2) who says...my TV works even on the go...install a TV-Free module...go google it up...(this is for your tv option only)
3) i recommend ACM module if that's the price you're gonna pay for...it's an OEM option...you can still hook up an aftermarket DVD player and reverse cam (i assume yours does't have PDC)...and you need a progman update if you want DTS/Dolby sound output for the aux menu to appear...but it'll be a very high risk you're gonna take...you can also go with FM receivers/modulators, but the sound won't be as good as compared to aux retrofit...you actually have original factory fitted Hi-Fi on the car with 10 speakers...

and i can assure you that it'll be cheaper than the option of what you were quoted...if you're interested than PM me...

Yeah, I just checked it out that TV on the move is possible. Mine already has PDC, so reverse cam not needed.

Dude, I have PMed you.......

Some update: I asked a guy who used to an AB tech guy. He says the CCC upgrade will cost around RM5K. This is for the double CD + DVD HU. Doing this will also enable the radio to Malaysia freq. However, the DVD is only for audio, not video. So if want to play video, still have to install a 3rd party DVD changer.

Upgrade to ver27 software will cost around RM1K. He says that so far he faced no problem doing it. Just that 1-2 cars in 10 might face some problems with hardware. In which case, need to change the radio module or worst case, entire CCC.

First of all, is this ex-AB tech guy now working in Stuttgard? He...he...he...i think i know him...Most probably the price of a new CCC will cost that much, but what about your Sat Nav Antenna, and all the rewiring of your original Nav DVD ROM/ HD in the pasenger-side of your rear boot? did you count that in with all the MOST conections and arangements...

I definitely guarantee that if you update your car via SSS with the newly purchased CCC (DVD), especially with Progman V27.x, it won't work...FYI, this update is needed, or else it won't be compatible with your car...PDC screen won't pop-up when in reverse/ pressing pdc button, your speakers won't produce HiFi quality sound, your TV won't work, your CDC won't work, etc...

E60's don't have radio modules...the CCC is the the whole module and are not in seperate form...is he planning to change the tuner/ receiver module...or is he trying to ft in an M-ASK module (the single slot for local AB cars)? if he plans to do that, it'llcost even more, the screen and the idrive controller are different and are not compatible...this will even cost you more...

Get more info on what he plans to do and make sure he guarantees and assures you that nothing will go wrong...

Wow! You sound like you're not from AB..... but from BMW Germany! :burnout:

He didn't mention anything about SatNav, so I'm guessing price is just for the DVD HU only.

Sound dangerous to do the SSS upgrade. Wondering if I should just use the DVD changer with a FM tuner for the sound? I'm not that particular about sound quality. I even use the FM cig lighter thingy to play MP3 from my pendrive. Main thing is just to keep the kids occupied during long drives

Let's meet up, i'll try to sort out something for you later...

Just got the radio booster fixed. Was a freebie from the salesman but didn't have stock the time I collected the car. Anyway, so far seems to work fine. Just one thing: why doesn't it show the station ID? For example, in my E46, when I tune to Mix FM, I see MIX FM instead of 94.5 appearing on the screen. This is RDS radio I believe. Is it that the booster screws up this function? Otherwise, would be much better to see the radio ID instead of the "wrong" frequencies.

Bro,

Appreciate your updates on the conversion if you are doing it. Would like to know more as I too have plans to convert mine... Thanks.

As promised, here it is: Did the Progman update (think its ver. 27) and the full CCC conversion from Jap to EU/MYS. Now have CD (top) and DVD (bottom) slots. Both apparently are MP3 enabled eventhough the DVD is for navigation, you can still play mp3 dvd disc. Nav is fully operational (with perspective view)..cooool. The existing DVD Rom drive located at the rear is still there and as before still obselete. Software features now available are Bluetooth (needs module to function), radio frequency now covers the whole local spectrum, i-drive user interface is silverish no more brownish, DVD drive (needs changer to function), TV function is however no more but was informed that it can be corrected via a module (for on the move TV) but reception is not good....I say good riddance TV. The existing 6 cd changer is functioning as before. Aux input is now available. Ooohhhh yeah one more thing...extended press of the lock button (the logo) enables the auto fold function of the side mirrors, didn't notice it earlier....Progman update may have enabled it, not sure. There are other features that I can't recall of hand but will list it down in my later post. Personally speaking....love it but then again like they say 'different folks, different strokes'. Thanks bmw_wmn58 and bmwclub...!!!!:top:

Hi,

I don't have an E60 but mine is the Z4 E85 (2004). It's a Japanese import and it came with motorised display, the usual radio and CD changer. And a DVD navigator that doesn't work here.

I've trawled through some foreign websites and it seems I need to replace the navigator with a non Japanese version, along with some other bits. Do you by any chance know of someone that can help me? I have actually thought of doing it myself, getting the stuff through Ebay since I'm partially versed with electronics.

But if there's someone out there that can do it professionally, I'd rather pay him to get the job done well than myself with a half cooked one.. you know that when half the time the navigator says you are somewhere in the South China sea...

Any help is most appreciated!

i'm interested as well.. in short,by doing the said work done,i'll retain the 6CD function but will have local radio freq available&displayed plus will have inputs for DVD(audio&video)and also for i-pod?? and also, the sound will be via the aux and not RF,right?

can u pm me rgdg the work to be done, things to be changed and the cost as well? thanx..much appreciated.

btw,mine is '03 jap-spec.

Jap nav doesn't work anywhere except for Japan. You need to convert the entire software and some hardware to UK/MY spec.

Hi,

Japan systems can be changed for local use
No hardware changes needed. Only software. Please visit Raymonds Auto Works ats sunway damansara. He will fix this for you
