I did go for the pan island drive on Sat. Some of them were to tired and wanted to relax on Sat afternoon. Took the drive on the ferringghi road all the way to the roundabout. Instead of turning towards Balik Pulau, I drove on further and reach the end of the road which is the entrance to the Penang National Park. there was a jetty there, walked on the crooked old wooden plank jetty which looks like it's almost going to fall into the sea.
Then drove on back to the roundabout and headed towards Balik Pulau. Came to the dam and took a view of it before proceeding further on the twisty mountain road which is really nice to drive on with all the tight and narrow corners. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an Initial D style night drives along this route...
From Balik Pulau, instead of heading back to town, I chose to go further to bayan lepas to complete the loop. There is a lot of construction going on along that route. There would be bridges and wider roads from the look of it. There goes the hilly road.. btw, the temporary bridges constructed really transformed my car into a bone-shaker. So don't say I didn't warn u about it if you do intend to travel along that route.
Exited at Bayan Lepas. Got hungry so headed back to town, more specifically Swatow Lane for char kuey teoh, crispy oyster omelete(ho chien), chee cheong fun..
Thanks to Ah Lian's trusty Garmin GPS, we were more adventurous in seeking for places to go... I should have dragged u guys to come along... But all is not lost, since I have recced some of these places, I intend to have another trip to go to more places in penang next time...
We also took a long drive to Teluk Kumbar for dinner on Saturday night. I think some of u guys would have asked 'Are we there yet?" in the car.. It was really a long drive going thru narrow kampung road before we reach there.. Thanks to Masch who give me a ride in his E36 equipped with his own in-car-computer with a touch screen interface complete with GPS, DVD player, 4 GB worth of MP3 plus many more functions. it even has a reverse camera mounted to the bumper.
On Sunday morning, I did drag most of the guys to eat one of the famous asam laksa for lunch at Lorong Keng Kwee. Not forgetting the famous Penang chendol stall just outside the shop. There were 2 'Penang famous chendol' stalls close to each other, but by looking at the crowd at both stalls, u can tell which is the real deal.
We headed for the ferry after lunch. Crossed over to the mainland without much hassle. Unfortunately for Silver, he had to use the bridge because we were afraid his lowered wide body E46 may not clear the ramp. He told us later that he had to endure the heavy traffic going onto the bridge. He did manage to catch up with us along the way later in the journey.
Will post my photos later...
