Dear All,Need your feedback. I am in a dilemma. As my junior will be coming in the very near future, I found that I need a bigger car than my E36. At the moment, I am looking at the following cars:-1. E34 525i (A) 1990 – around RM40k2. E34 520i (M) 1993 – aroundRM45k Of course I would not mind getting the E34 525i 24V (either with vanos or non-vanos) if I can find one at around the same price. Oh, my budget is max RM45k.Firstly, I would need to know the market price of the above cars. Secondly, which car would be the better option i.e. drivability, upgrading options, etc.By the way, are there any other difference, besides the engines, between the 2.0L and 2.5L E34s?Hmmm, this would of course mean that I have to sell my Babe…. damn. Sure will get withdrawal symptoms one.... :(

Flash,

Go for the 525' 24v......believe me, no regrets if you go down this road! Yes you will miss your E36 but believe me, the refinement of a well cared-for E34 will more than compensate! It's a better handling car too...

I will now hand this over to the E34 sifus to further drive the nail in deeper than neccessary.......ekekekeekkekee

an E36 cannot fit a small baby? What bollocks is that la you flash

Don't make the additional member of the family as an excuse to get an E34. Just say that you have too much money and need another toy. :p

Why E34? Why not E38?

Yup, I found one well cared for E34 1990 525i (A) with the M20B25 engine. The price is around what I can afford for now. It does not have the immediate power surge of my babe but it definitely handles speed better. Quieter too as it does not have the groans and "squeek"s of my babe. Yes "squeek", interested in my babe?

Of course I am still hunting for the E34 525i 24V if the price is right. If not, I may have to settle for either the 520i (M) M50B20 or the 525i (A) M20B25. Darn, decisions, decisions, decisions. :beaten:

flash...

'93 520i M50B20 5-sp manual... this is a non-vanos.... it drives better than many 520i auto.... and fuel consumption on this car is quite good .......... :nyehehe: :nyehehe:

Ever tried to squeeze your parents and baby seat in the rear of an E36, together with the baby stroller and barang-barang in the boot? I did... and it was no joke. Very cosy though.

Anyway, I am trying to get a "cheaper" car in the process which would free up some extra moolahs for me. A win-win situation. :D

When everything is more settled down, can start on the upgrade path all over again....

Better get a M50 525i....
I would if I can get one within my price range... still looking.

the E36 boot seem to be smaller in comparison to the E30 boot...

I supposed it has got to do with the aerodynamic profile of the E36 rear...

The 520i comes with non-vented front discs. But this can easily be fixed by swapping in 525i calipers - cheap mod around RM250 for the calipers and they are direct bolts on.

flash,
you did not mention having your parents in your car too. An E34 doesn't cut it. You need an MPV.

Right now, I have my wife and I in front, and two children at the back with my maid. One baby car seat and one bassinet. Still OK.

I don't lug around other ppl in my car but if they need to go around, they can take my other car.

What u have mentioned still doesn't change my earlier statement. You are only looking for an excuse. Don't ask, just go and BUY.

Tempting but the road tax will be a killer. Considering that I do not even want to consider getting a 2.8L engine.... :p

Typical accountant talk.....try and put a value on the ""fun"" factor :nyehehe: . I think the best car/vehicle for you is the new Kia Carens now called Naza (?). Less than 80k and can seat 7 ppl! :p :p :D Road tax also cheap cheap....less than RM400 a year!
