Hi bro,did you get the X1. Would like to know what wear and tear items you changed and how much you spent. Did you get the diesel or petrol version?

Hi terencebee, No problems at all. The mileage now 18,000km after 1 year of daily use. The engine is the same as the current 320d and X3 20d.

A change for the better I'd say and the interior space has increased by quite a margin with better materials used to make up the soft touch cabin.

Would not mind having this baby in my car porch! The previous gen was not to my liking at all.

Hi all, planning to get the X1 xdrive20d..found 1 unit in carlist going for RM163k..is it worth it? Mileage is 13k. How much is the maintenance?

Currently I'm a Golf GTi driver.. But i do ocassionally drive SUVs when im back in my hometown. So change of style is nothing major :p

Im concerned with the quality of our diesel, will there be any black smoke?

What year is the car for 163k ? The engine is well designed to suit the diesel currently available.
Some years down the road, it will benefit from even better diesel if government plans go ahead.
There will be some smoke on rapid acceleration. Under normal acceleration, there is no smoke.

According to the post, it's a 2013 car.
I found another too.. 2014 but going for 190k

That's a lot of depreciation to benefit the 2nd hand car buyer. Go for it if you find one in good condition. It will serve you well.

Yep this one looks way much better than the one we see on the road now but in all honesty the current one handles potholes quite well. I was fortunate to have one while my car is in for warranty issues and that's when I found how good it was to drive it and dare I say it rides better than the Evoque over bumpy roads.

Just my 2 cents but if not in the hurry to get one might wanna wait until the F48 X1 launches here...by then the previous gen X1 price will go down a bit more and will benefit the second owner.

I enquired further with the Agent in the list, the car is a demo unit for AB Glenmarie. It will come with 2 years unlimited mileage warranty + 3 years BSRI - sort of like a new car?

I wanted to know more about BMW maintenance, will it give me bill shock like VW on certain mileage service? Reliability, I think it will be better than VW dry clutch cars right (although mine is the wet clutch and no issue)? :p

So far, is there still any timing chain issue like i read in the internet? Last recall from BMW is 2015.

The timing chain has been sorted out in the late models. After March 2011, it seems the problem has been corrected :

The car on sale has a manufacture date of 2013 so that appears to be a safe date. Best to get the VIN number and check the date of manufacture.
The 8 speed ZF gearbox is very robust. It is used across a wide range of BMW models without problems.

Bear in mind that the 2 year warranty starts from the date the vehicle was first registered so the warranty is running as you speak. As for BSRI - first 3 years from date of registration all service is FOC which includes stuff like wipers, disc brakes, etc. After 3 years you will have to pay for the service and yes certain major service will cost a lot which is normal for premium vehicles such as this and spare parts aren't cheap either.

FYI all new vehicles registered from 1st June 2015 have 5 year unlimited mileage warranty and 5 year FOC scheduled service based on the vehicle CBS system but does not included stuff covered in BSRI like free disc brake replacement and what not.

As for timing chain issue and the awesome BMW gearbox, bro tckhor has explained to you about it.
