I beg to differ.....on the looks side. Frankly, I wun say its ugly but its like the car is a confused character....."should I be a stationwagon/estate? or should I be a SUV aka my X3 sister?"

To my eyes, its a stationwagon/estate....with a bit more ride height but not much. As such, why do you think the handling should be less than stellar?

Yeah, the price will finally be its downfall and the Q5 is far better choice ( looks and value wise )......provided u can get hold of one!

Jules is correct, I test drove the X1 a few days ago, basically it handles the way it should..nothing to shout about...it's more car than and SUV. Interior pretty cramped and cheap looking. Somehow, the X1 just does not do it for me.

The Q5 should not be compared to the X1 though, it's more of the X3 rival...wait till the Q3 comes out...

I'd give the X1 a pass :thumpdown:

Hi bro, the 2.0d costs $298800 which I think it's a little overpriced IMO. The only advantage is you get the BMW professional navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. I sat in the cabin before and the plastic trims are a tad mediocre in quality being a BMW. Didn't expect that from a German marque. Maybe time to visit the next best alternative, the one next to federal highway? ;-) no not C&C.

Eh,serious ke Bad? I wasn't really serious...but I am planning to get a superbike.The thought did cross my mind to sell but what price can I get for it? Nanti rugi je.. unless someone offers me a really good price for it la.I've grown quite attached to the car,but dunno if the feeling will be there still,especially when I get my bike.

X1 issues

Hi all, just wanna check the following, my friend just got her new X1, and has experienced the following after just the first 65km:

1. Every time the car is started, there is the warning chimes, but no warning being displayed, just the normal lights which goes out. Check control is ok, chime goes out after like 10 seconds - IS THIS NORMAL
2. Consumption for the x1 1.8i is INCREDIBLY BAD, almost a quarter tank of petrol gone with just 65km done. This can't be right.

Any feedback and experience would help. I have had a coupe of BMWs and none of them do the chime thing when starting up. Is this a feature of the X1?

Bro, I'm driving a new X1 sDrive 18i too. Don't be unduly worried about the warning chimes on start up, it's just a reminder for the seat belts. I do agree that consumption is a bit high initially but after driving it about a month, i could get about 11.6 L/100km, just slight higher than my 118i's fuel consumption of 11.5L/100km. I guess its all about driving the car smoothly which I do. I should know as I recently won the Shell 95 Fuelsave Challenge in Johor and represented Malaysia with 2 other winners, (Malaysia got 3rd place), in the Asia Shell Fuelsave Challenge at Sepang last week. I can share the fuelsaving tips I have learned if anyone is interested.

Yeah, the warning chimes are seat belts. Put it on and they stop. Our X1 xDrive20d's consumption is just below 10l/100km. Which is about a third worse than previous 320d with the same engine. And no, I don't do smooth driving. The torque's just too tempting.

X1 Wind and Road Noise

Hey guys, I just want to inquire how do you think X1 wind and road noise???

I'm now facing a problem that my X1 wind leaks very bad, I can hear the wind sound when I'm driving at less than 100km/h...

The sound is very loud when I drive 120KM/h... I try to fix this problem at Auto Bavaria twice but still the same... I'm going to send my car in to Auto Bavaria again next Monday... See what they say...

And the car is very bumpy even at highway...

Any sifu here have come across this problem???

Pls advise...

In my experience, wind noise is low on the X1 up to 100-120km/h. Starts getting loud closer 140km/h.

You should definitely have them take a look.

Just took delivery of the X1 sDrive 18i. The drive transmission is as smooth like silk, and definitely roomier than my ex-1 series
