Had a wonderfull chance to drive and experience the flying lap in Sepang with the Lotus Elise. All I can say, it's a perfect track toy to learn how to drive and to enjoy the oversteer of a car. Now I know why the owners of Lotus Elise always smile after a long track day. Just wack the car on corners. It's a Mid-Engine Car. So, the trottle response is fantastic. Just power out at corner.

Truly an easy car to get into and drive but extremely difficult to drive hard! The car is so pure that it does not tolerate any driver error! Heck it doesn't even have an LSD!

Truly an enthusiast machine fot those who are into the purity of driving and dancing on the edge.

yes, the car is raw. No electronics. It's just your steering wheel, the gear and pedals.....

point and shoot. Now i understand.

How about the Kookaburra One? I think the car is about the price of a an Elise gear knob :p

I was looking for one before deciding on the MCS. Yes, it's raw alright, not unsimilar to a go-kart. I've seen a few Elises getting out-of-shape in SIC during track days.

mafia, mine is different.

osflanker, yes.. your kkbora is another MEAN machine. but in terms of overall, it's different.

bmfive, the mcs is a different machine. but you made the right choice. however, mcs is a little more expensive to play plus mcs still do have the comfort compared to elise. but in terms of raw, elise has it.

so, different strokes for different folks.

I didn't dare to push it hard but when Sean took me for a ride, he was pushing it and that's when I feel it at the limit. Didn't get to ride in the other Elise driven by Oh Kah Beng, he's defnitely a speed freak... Heard that he braked in the Elise AFTER the 50m mark on the front straight, with both legs.. Damn...

On the track, the Lotus will eat the MCS alive. After sitting and driving the Lotus...and then sat in the MCS..I felt the MSC was like a MPV hhahahaha :D

Hi Guys,

It was good to have you guys over at the track day. Hopefully one day we can have an exclusive Lotus and BMW event over at Sepang. I am glad that driving the Elise has left such an impression. After owning the car for over 3 years, it still puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it. Every occassion on the track is still a learning experience and therein lies the attraction of car. It takes quite a bit to use the car to its maximum potential as demonstrated by Kah Beng and Tg Djan only can. The journey to this driving nirvana is so much fun and littered with many spin outs. I hold so much respect for the guys who can push this car to even 80% of its potential.

I hope for those guys that came with me on the track, I managed to do the Elise justice. I was the one in the silver Elise.

BTW, I owned a MCS for a short spell some time ago and I really enjoyed it. It won me on many aspects but nothing feels as rewarding to drive as a rear wheel drive. Also, sometimes those electronics robs the driver from the true driving experience. Being FWD, the MCS is a lot easier to drive on the limit and allows a driver to approach it with confidence. for that reason, its nice to play around with. I wudnt say the MCS is better than the Elise or vice versa; they are different cars for different moods.

Regards,
Reza

Thanks for the hospitality. Yes we would look forward to a join track day. Actually ask kah Beng when is the next event.

Both are different cars. The lotus more track focus & the MCs is indeed a fun car for on track & also as a daily driver.
