Hello sifus,I have placed an order for the 328i and noticed that there's an add-on for Telematics Platform which cost roughly about RM5.9k and a renewal fee of RM600. However, I am still unclear as to what it offers and my SA is also quite unfamiliar with it. Anyone added this to their ride would you mind sharing more about this? Checked the official BMW site and it seems to bring me to BMW Assist / BMW Online . Totally confused :stupid:

Mark, i hv same confusing as u :)

Basically, at its core, what it does is two things.

1) Tracking of your car (in the event your car is stolen or whatever)
2) Collision detection/Accident Detection etc (In the event you get into an accident)

In the second case, once the accident sensors go off, the company in charge of BMW Assist will call you to find out if you are okay, and will dispatch help from their nearest rescue center. Think of it as a high-tech AAM.

Worth it or not, it's for you to evaluate and decide.

Are you really, please do tell us how it goes :) I don't personally know anyone who has opted for it, but it's fairly new, so I'm quite open to it.

It will be perfect for those IT geeks. But I've not specified it, do let us have your feedback!

I asked the SA and the installation and testing are going to take about a week.
Hm strange, what I have been informed by my SA that it'll only take a day but we'll see. I've been having nothing but bad experience with the SA (It's my first time buying a car, not sure what I should expect but it looks like I have to do everything myself, including loans and number plate) so I hope this will not cause more troubles for me :(

If the SA is not helpful, why not just opt for some other dealership? Surely BMW dealership these days are like mushrooms after rain?

Yeah but the thing is the SA apologized and I really don't want to cause troubles for them...later they get banged by their manager and she's also quite old already so close one eye lah... Hope it'll be better but thanks for your advise bro

Okay, apparently TPA doesn't actually "enable" anything apart from monitoring from http://www.cobra.com.my/ . If your car is stolen, call their hotline and they'll track them down by notifying the cops. Apart from that, if you purchase the ID tag (RM200 per piece which works similar like an immobilizer) just that if this device is not within the range of the car, you'll be notified in "realtime".

In addition to that they'll call you if you meet with an accident, is towed away or battery tampered with when the key fob is not nearby.

Hm, strange the letter that I get here did not mention anything about meeting into an accident. Thanks for the heads up by the way! By the way, did you get the ID tag? I am wondering if it's better to just get it so you get real time notification since you already paid 5.9k on the TPA :p

Nope, didnt opt for the tag, u hv to carry it around everywhre u go, a bit of inconvenience imho:3:

I opted for this as well. From what I read in the BMW website, it offers a lot more than just vehicle tracking. Anyway, mine is going to be installed this week and SA said it will take one day.
