T2ribena,I'd like to know why my thread was deleted. How do you define commercial posting? Isn't the act of selling anything commercial in nature? I'm selling a service and I started the thread under the classifieds sections. Some members here constantly sells cars every other month, and TTH tyre for example talks about his tyre shop and what they offer. Why is there preferential treatment? This high-handed nonsense should end.:thefinger:
Please refer to the title on the classifieds section below:
Classifieds (24 Viewing)
Got something to sell? Where else but the classifieds.
Please beware and be cautious when trading. BMWClub Malaysia will not be held responsible for any possible mishaps that might occur during transactions.
dont have to be gila kuasa, find something better to do with your time.
1. how do you define commercial posting?
any posting in this forum that covers and not limited to buying and selling of a commercial nature. "commercial" refers to any sale of goods and services where there is transactions leading to profit to one party and use of goods and services by the other party, in short, of a business nature. key word .."business"
2. isn't the act of selling anything commercial in nature?
no, if i have a part for sale. just one part and i cannot use it, i can offer to sell in the forum. if i have many parts for sale and it is for business purposes i put it up in the forum, then this is for commercial purposes and this is not allowed in the forum unless approved by the club. there are other avenues to advertise your services which may or may not require you to pay, please refer to the other avenues...and pay.
3. is selling service the same as selling a physical product and is commercial in nature?
please refer to the Sale of Goods and Services Act where both are commercial in nature, unless your services or goods are for free, then it is not commercial in nature. example, going to a spa for services is commercial in nature. still pay, right? its a business, right?
4. other members constantly selling cars every month?
who? please be specific and the committee will act accordingly. as they say, two wrongs don't make one right. your post is still a commercial post. maybe you should sell cars too, then the forum may 'overlook' this as you say.
5. isn't TTH's post commercial in nature?
TTH has a close relationship with the club and its members built over the years. Noticed why there are no other tyre shops advertising? Something to ponder...
(can someone share more details re TTH ..thanks)
6. Why is there preferential threatment?
What preferential threatment? Before asking that, do you also need special threatment to sell your services in this forum?
Bottom line is this, if the club/forum lets "A" advertise for services, then anyone from "A" to "Z" can also advertise for their services too....for free! and this is something we don't want...period. Also, if the club lets "A" advertise...then how about other competitor. Not wanting to give preferential threatment as you say, so all also not allowed except for certain exceptions. Read below...
I am surprised you didn't mention the Castrol ad because Castrol gave us RM80K worth of engine lub to the members.
Yes, there are other advertisers but there advertisers sponsor the clubs activities either in monetary terms or gifts for the annual dinners we have every year and they acvtually bothered to talk to the club's committee before posting anything of a commercial nature.
Furthermore, as a "forumer" you are a guest in this house, so it is not your place to tell the host what to do and what not to do. You may suggest but that is as far as it goes. Insulting the host is a definate no-no...in any situation.
All said and done, the forum is indeed a good avenue to propose your products and services but you will have to get approval first from the club committee and also what will be your contribution to the club and its members should the committee ok your proposal. Nothing is free and the club is not for sale.
Hope the above clarifies.
