How come I did'nt know you Alvin I have been in old cars since 1981 in KL, been in MG Club, MSVCR, RMVCCR and now BMW pulak, anyway sayang you did yours and sold it why??? I only sold my MGA and Fiat 1.3 sports a rare car too. Now just play with this & Austin 1300 and my e30/m40, soon hopefully e46/330ci convertible cukup lah. keep your morris minor.
I was thinking to load pictures at the gallery but its not friendly at all says ok but no pictures turns out so much so gave up if not sure I post all my album of yesteryears in classic cars and events we did.

Well Seremban is the haven for old spareparts at one time but Japaness kill the market then.. British car parts slowlly gone and shops turn to sell other makes, my last I got was wing mirror at RM 30 a pair, I walap all that they had at that time you know what, The imitation signal lights (British Made) for my car actually I wanted only the rubber holder as the lence was plastic and I had the original set lucas which is glass I got from Far East Motors at the back of Warnes Bros Jln. Pudu. now close down, they stock british parts then & I even get the overhaul kits for my disc Brakes Lucas yet it was in the 80s lah. Now I know Sin Tong Bee Jln Pudu can get some parts and willing to order for you but he cut you neck, another that I know at Jln Masjid India don't know still there or not.
You know even keys from the supplier for British cars can get in Serembam that time I got 2 keys just give the NO. if you are lucky you get it but 1 I don't know where I place it. My keys are still original set.
have a look here crazy am I, just for the fun of it, I still keep a set of gasket for overhaul, a set of brand new tail lights and some little stuff from my spare car I strip, the clutch is the same with Morris Minor I did change myself and its done. not that bad daring juga.

I'm from Bentong. Maybe you hv heard of someone from there those days in the classic cars scene. My dad loves these cars & we started restoring them. Use to go all over the place looking for them. Penang is another place to look at. USe to ship back stuff's from UK for the MG's. last restoration project was a 1963 250se coupe convertible. Restored the whole works including the connoly hides & new mohair roof. Prepared it for the Langkawi show.

rezzy,

good work. but if i may comment i cud see the uneveness of the metal surface. worst is that u put the undercoat oledi. ive done body repair on my car and i wud say that u shud atleast make the surface nice n smooth ie even before u start undercoat. else it will look really bad when u start put the paint on.

i know u hate to use filler to even those pothole/uneven surface. its not really an issue to use them as it wont peel off if u do it right. if i may suggest, if u dont like filler, u cud fill those hole with metal and then grind it till u get even surface.

i wud do it right the 1st time (quoting from my own experience of course).. body work is hard and time consuming... but a good exercise never the less..

Perhaps surfaces to be filled wud hold better if it's roughened or etched (for better adhesion/ bite/ grip), b4 spreading over the filler substances. :)
errr but u shudn't put any undercoat if the surface is not even.. make it smooth (be it fill it with filler or other method) 1st b4 undercoat, then fresh paint . undercoat is normally before u paint.

I use to visit Bentong in the 80s with the MG club guy, visit to a senior second hand shop owner famous for old parts and our stopover place after driving for makan at Karak area. don't know ever met you as you are Ull briner style now. Langkawi events I know but did'nt go as my car not to that standard, lots of kaki go and most I know them.
When I was in Kuantan in the 96,97 met some kaki kereta there too and 1 guy can't remember his name from Bentong use to play with olddy too he had a Metropolitan Nesh, Singer, works at JKR now sold the Singer. he is in Kuantan JKR don't know still there or not. I was told there is one 170 Merc 1/2 done was for sale then but I did'nt follow up selling at 10k.
lots of yesteryear stories.
