One of my pet peeves with my pre-facelift 2001 CKD E46 325i is that it does not have DSC. Experiencing oversteer in the twisty Ulu Yam roads have led me to think that DSC is a must-have. The facelifted CKD E46 325i has DSC. DSC cannot be retrofitted. Presently, the E46 325i, new, is priced at around RM300,000 to RM310,000.00. My pre-facelift E46 325i cost me about RM247,000.00 new back in 2001. It is now only worth about, say, RM170,000.00. Do you guys think it's a good idea to sell my present pre-facelift E46 325i and buy a new E46 325i in order to get DSC, bearing in mind the loss arising from the depreciation of my existing car and the additional cost to buy a new E46 325i? Besides DSC, a new E46 325i has other goodies (electric seats, xenon lights, etc) that my 325i doesn't have but except for DSC I really don't need the other stuff.

personally i think it a waste of money.. not a whole lot of extras for so much more $. suggest that you upgrade to e90 instead.. it will have DSC++, which has additional features to current DSC..

yeah... if you are prepared to push your budget beyond RM300k, then probably it makes sense to get the E90

I'm driving a pre-facelifted 2001 E46 325i too. It's gonna cost you RM140K for these extras. I think I would wait for E90 since it's quite imminent.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Would your views remain if Auto Bavaria still have stock of the base-model facelifted E46 325i which was retailing at RM267,000.00?

The joy of the new car or DSC won't last as long as it will be an old model by next month. I would also think, you might regret it if you plunk down now for a new E46.

aahhhh..... that explains why AB's fervent effort to sell off as many e46s they possibly could before the advent of the e90. B)

In terms of economics, i feel it makes no sense to change. It would be better to invest in training to improve your driving skills instead of relying on electronic driver aids. In time you can hang out your tail in a lurid 4 wheel drift and look cool doing it. And still have spare change at the end of the year.

i agree with 3er, depreciation hit on your car is 80k, you have to top up another 130k to get the facelifted e46 (assuming it's 300k). Total hit of 210k just for the DSC.....not worth it......but it's your money.

me.....I will work on my ABS (Aku Brake Sendiri) to solve this delimma. :D

wglee, up 2 u. if u have lots of money, go for it. i don't regret buying the last stock of e46 coz to me e46 looks nicer than e90.

if i budget is above rm300,000, i would buy merc s-class..... not just dsc, plenty more u can get from s-class. wouldn't buy 7 series coz s-class looks nicer than 7 series.....

AB is trying so hard to flock off old stock. They are even running a E46 event in Soulout! My Sporean colleagues are surprised as Spore is running events to promote the E90, we are doing the opposite! What the F**K!

Mod the driver NOT the car....

go for advance driving courses... then u'll find oversteer is actually quite a thrill when u can maintain the sideways motion....

A real driver don't need driver's aids...

Alternatively, take up go karting.... go ask Alvin, OSFlanker, Jules and bmFive on this....

Yes, don't waste your money "upgrading" from one E46 to another. Go take advance driver's lesson, or go to drift clinic with Fabian and you will learn to control the oversteer. Much cheaper and you can transfer the skills to all sort of cars.

If you can have RM3,000 to RM4,000 to spare, you can even hire Alex Yoong for one hour in a 1 to 1 lesson on Sepang track!

Take a ride in my M3 Gillard Rotax kart and you will know how to control oversteer - coz it does it in every corner with the worn out hard compound rear tyres!

Thank you, guys, for your advice. Does AB still conduct advanced driving courses?

osflanker, hire alex "the driver with worst resume" yoong? nearly made my stomach burst.........

better hire a maid or prostitute or khalid jamlus or mamak jual roti or whoever lah....but not that a.yoong......

The DSC unit can be store into ur current 01 325i. all u need to do is to replace the stock ASC unit. and of course u may need to send ur car to the workshop.
