These are the track data we received from the organisers

Thanks Haywire for the track data :top:

Here's some facts & figures to make some sense of it:

///M5 - fastest UDM

11th - ranking of our fastest UDM among the Megane RS who hit the track at least every other month (this is their 3rd track day this year)

14th - ranking of our fastest UDM out of the total participants of 41

70% of UDMs were faster than a Megane RS Modified

50% of UDMs went below 3min

30% of UDMs were faster than all the Italian cars

30% of UDMs beat the total average time of 2:53.813

20% of UDMs were faster than 50% of the Lotus

100% - joy of participating in the track day

Thanks CMs & everyone who was there and made the day a fun outing :top::top:

My best lap time so far in the E30 318is is 3:00 in SIC, that was actually the last time I driven on track. Haven't been in for 2 years.

Hahaha...ur either a Statistician or a Politician.

It's only a perception that BMWs are slow.. hahaha....
Statistics proved that BMWs are fast too...

I love how these statistics were derived hahahahahahaha!

IMHO...the Megane RS are like purpose built track cars tht are road legal....just like the lotus Elise/Exige (not sure abt the Evora though) I dun think the Megane can be used as a daily driver...where else a BMW is the Ultimate Driving Machine, track also can as a daily drive also can......

...btw can somebody tell me the timing for Sector 4 is from where to where.?..as far as I know Sepang Circuit only got 3 timing sectors..

_M_, if add up all ur fastest sector times u would have done a 2'51.866
Rx8 you would be 2'55.365, Nitedevil 2'58.525, Madziz 2'59.377..
and tht would make it 70% of UDM tht went below 3min...

ok since we are in some statistic and analysis...

i did that time with the following car condition as a daily driver car...stock

1. Front Brake mileage - 42000km
2. Tyres - 22000km (worn to twi) ps2

now after two track day the brake still has 8000km of life in it...tyre still ok in dry...

in summary...the car is a superb daily driver and some track fun driving...not a serious track car coz of the weight...

Still BMW for me...hehehe

Election season ma.. hearing too much political talk..

Vital statistics I like.. :4:

..i was there and any comparison taken is invalid and non realistic, considering vehicles exposed on the track..few renaults had entirely removed all seats but driver, tuned up, and tires were track one(im not sure , but all of them had tires for track)..having said this and exposed standard by renault, it is completely natural to say that no motorsport version of BMW has hit track that day..i will not even try to talk about tuned version of any motorsport BMW (few RS were tuned up, even already considered sport)..and if such BMW(motorsport tuned) had hit track, image will be brutally different..in short, it was competition between very very stock everyday BMW's and builted in sports cars and some of them additionally tuned with full race gear...

EccO, hope you will take your z4m coupe manual on sepang soon ya. It be fun to see how it compared.

Agreed...but other than an ///M what BMW Motorsport tuned cars are u talking abt...those used in the WTCC where even if you have money they would not sell to you? where else those Renaults are sold in your local dealership, and out of the box they are already doing 2'44's a lap, Ok the tyre advantage for using semi slicks probably abt 2-3 seconds so its 2'46/47 (FYI the Taxi Ride car is stock standard showroom test drive car and its doing 2'39 with passenger but thts driven by a professional pilot)......the thing is this, they cost abt RM230+k to own where else your BMW equivalent would be the E92 335i / F30 335 or an ///M which is above the RM400k range ...so either way u cant compare..Price Factor Vs Fun Factor and RM per 1HP.....and this is wht the Renault owners will tell you if u bring up this argument with them...no doubt BMW make better cars though.

i did that time after kena kutuk for setting a slower time than f30s as i was just having fun whole morning with the following car condition as a daily driver car...stock

1. Front Brake mileage - 42000km
2. Tyres - 22000km (worn to twi) ps2

now after two track day the brake still has 8000km of life in it...tyre still ok in dry...

your car was built to be a fast road car...the renault was built to be a fast track car....u use the car on the road more than u use it on the track so ur car makes more sense...

..Im talking about BMW Motorsport vehicle ready for track, as those additionally tuned RS'es were tuned (chip modded and turbo, removed seats, tyres, etc)..none of BMW's exposed were not even close to be called 'ready for track'..if it was bunch of M's over there, with track tyres, removed seats and spare tyre (as RS's did), modded chips, i'm very confident in rather different picture..im not talking about any economy here (cra prices and so on), all im talking about is, how much track worth were those BMW's vs RS'es, thats all, and Im very comfortable to say, comparison of any kind in terms of race is incomplete and completely wrong..those RS'es havent seen a one single BMW car, track ready..simple as it is..

why are u comparing to those tht are tuned/modified...see the timing sheets in the earlier pages ...the timing is categorised ...RS Stock and RS Modified ...The RS stock is doing 2'44...the modified RS is doing 2'35.
Our M5 is only doing 2'50 but given to a proffesional Pilot with semi slicks maybe 2'35/38 is possible ....but is it fair to compare a 5000cc V10 car to a 1998cc 4-cylinders in-line 16-valves DOHC Turbocharged car?

..well..I guess, RS stands for Renault Sport, and gear on those cars are set for track...so, how many Motorsports cars were there, set for track ?? Zero..

....errr the Renault are also stock cars out from the show room and not from any motorsport division...
