I am the owner of a BMW 323i. I purchased this car in 2010. On the very first day of owning the car, I had found that the door locks do not respond well to both the remote keys. We raised this issue to the dealership which we bought the car from and their advice is “it is normal and we shall give it some times for the battery to be fully charged”. We went back to them again after a month of trying since the issue of locking and unlocking the doors did not improve at all and not to mention the problematic comfort access related functions (No key sign showing on the dash board while the fob is in my pocket; the unlocking and locking functions using the door handles are not working most of the time). Since then we had sent our car in and out of the dealership for more than 10 times (within a period of 22 months) for the same repair attempts and until today the issue is not resolved. I am actually planning to file a lawsuit against them at this moment. Could anyone of my fellow car owner shed some light on this? Thank you!

I believe if u have the comfort access, the battery in the key fob is not a rechargeable one but one of the disposal type. Mine is a 2010 model 323i as well. The comfort access works maybe 90+%. Not totally foolproof. And sometimes it does give me a 'key not present' error even while driving. But it does sort itself out.

I'd complained about it before but no improvement and it's not that bad just have to try twice sometimes in order to open or close the door sometimes.

Maybe your battery is weak ?

Hi BMW323i2010...

Quite unfortunate for you to experienced such issue when it comes to Comfort Access. I don't encounter such issue but I will tell you from my experience, the Comfort Access's performance is degraded if you keep it in the pocket together with your mobile phone. It work sometimes and it don't work sometimes. There seems to be a big interference. You need to keep them separate. For me, separating them solved the issue straight away.

Hope this pointer helps.

Despite the debate on battery for Comfort Access key and whether they are chargeable or rechargeable, please hear it from me (someone who have changed the battery myself) that it is non-rechargeable. No point putting it into the ignition. It won't charge. Once the time come to change, just replace with a new one for better performance.

I have been having the same problem since i picked my car up in Aug last year. They changed the key fobs and my car has spent many days in their hands but still no solution in sight. The SA finally claimed it is within tolerance for BMWs and I have asked for this in writing... and still waiting! Next plan is to write to Germany. It is really annoying when 1) its raining and the doors dont unlock to get in and 2)the warning comes on almost everytime my wife opens the passenger door, why... go figure??? This is so irritating that I am seriously considering changing brands.

Could everyone who has issue with your remote keys, comfort access please share your experience with me so that I can compile a list and send it to BMW Malaysia and Germany? Thank you!

My E90 325 comfort access has issues. Car is a mere 1 month old. I was shown by BMW's techie if you place it beside a handphone it will not work properly at all. Now I keep it in my pocket WITHOUT a handphone and it has issues too. Opening not as bad but locking the car is sometimes frustrating. Why all this? Well its a BMW that is why. Go to AB and you will get the same old reply. As great as this car handles etc these small things really makes it sickening to own.

so far mine has no issues..9/10 works fine..from my experience, it depends on how you "stroke" it..feels the car a lot closer to me too..if I stroke her gently and in the right way, she seems to get "turned on" and lets me get inside her..hehe..not sure if it's a CBU spec that made the difference tho..

by the way just to check, if u walkaway from the car (with your keys in the pocket) when the engine is running, will it not shut down automatically after some time? mine didn't, is it the same for other fellow comfort access owners? was hoping it would shut down automatically since that would help circulate the oil to cool-off my turbos (more like a turbo-timer for older turbocharged cars) without me having to wait in the car for a few minutes just to cool things off after a spirited drive..thanks

Are you on security tint?

Aero ... No tint at all ... no time for tint yet! LOL! BMW is Banyak Masuk Workshop la ... mine came back out and still same problems. Hahahahahaahahahaa ...

My Comfort Access works 9/10 times. Besides the handphone issues, I don't think I ever faced any other issues about it not responding. Mine is pretty responsive and my car tinting is 3M Crystaline.

Truly sorry to hear others have issue with it.

Sapphire ... Maybe my battery is low ... Hehehe ...

Haven't logged into this forum for a while. Got my wife a 323i sedan E90 pre reg a few months back. Priorities have changed. Getting a baby soon and im spending too much time abroad at work. No more coupe. =(

Anyhow, when i gotten my car, i had the same prob as you guys. Took out the battery of the keyfob and it measured 3.02volts. Bought a new battery and it reads 3.35volts. What a difference that makes. Now the keyfob works even while its in the same pocket as my mobile and i can unlock my car much further with the remote than before. My window is tinted too.

So my advice, change the battery to a new one and see how it goes. After all, it only costed me RM 5 x 2.

I changed the batteries, little improvement. Half the time, still need to do the "Moon Walking" stuff to get the CA connection and activation.... :(

I had the low batt warning and the Comfort Access was erratic at times. Changed my batts and it all works fine now. How long do the batts last?

Hi all newbie here

Got my new BPS E90 325 couple months back. Had a few issues with comfort access from start. But didn't have time to send in till early this week to AB Glenmarie. Told SA comfort access on passenger side not sensitive enough. Driver side was ok. Occasionally experience key not present when tried to start car even though gotten into car. After checking, SA said was because of tinting. WTF, was annoyed at him but knew was useless talking to him. How can the tinting be an issue, I wonder.

Anyway took back the car and discovered that when I turn on the lights, it doesn't function as before, ie the off switch mode is on a different setting. Reckon they reinstalled it back wrongly. Also complained about busted rear speaker. SA told me because of tinting causing this problem. Looks like they trying to make me pay since I didn't get tinting from them? Got my tinting from V-Kool.

Should I bring car back to AB Glenmarie for them to fix back the light switch? or just bring to another SC? After reading so much "insults" about AB Glenmarie, regretted buying from them.

Go and screw AB, tell them fix it and give you a courtesy car. What bloody nonsense tinting? Lead tinting issit? Mine was resolved at Ingress. They got new keys and reprogrammed the car

Hi,

tinted windows affect the frequency.
If remote key battery is doing good then it could be outer door handle or the aerial diversity module is malfunction.

Mostly is caused by a faulty outer door handle. Done few replacement already. So far no return job.
My advise is get your local bmw technician to run diagniatic test on your vehicle.
Bmw tech here.
