Very professional, willing to explain when ask what they are doing, even though they are busy. I took a day off and spend the whole day at the workshop, watching them rebuilding the gear box. There are some special tools involve to perform the job, of which, I believe only workshop who solely deal with gear box have it. Mine is GM gb. After changing the ATF at a workshop in Kuchai Entrepreneur Park, when cold, the car does't want to move when shift to D. After much consultation with Mr Tan at M-Scope, I decided to rebuild my gear box, change everything that need to change. Though cost it cost high, at least I've comfort in my mind. The gb is very smooth now, as good as new.

they are not the cheapest in town but for sure, they change all the parts as promise and excellent after sales service.
The owner of the shop was with BMW Australia for 8 years. So, they know what they are doing.:top:

advice me pls.. im having a gearbox problem.. sent it to auto bava for check up and the results is... gear monitoring problem.. they advised me to change the whole gearbox for 25k.. wtf~! pls help me on this.. ive ask some frenz.. they said it could be the sensor problem only..
i explain roughly hows my e46 condition..
when shift to D.. after release the brake it doesnt move.. i have to rev the car a bit then only it'll move.. i think the gear it moves with the 3rd gear.. the gbox indicator turns on and off sumtimes.. but i dont wanna take any risk before it became worse.. so pls advice me.....
here are some advice from my beemer friend...
chenge the cam sensor.. gbox oil.. and gasket.. should settle.. (if its the sensor problem..)
does any one here experienced the same here.. and any idea how much it cost for a recond or after market e46 325 gbox.. thank u.....
adriangzh;425025 said:chetz, may i know where you stay. If my request is not too much, could you send your car over here to have a check-up with us. Anyway if it shows gear monitoring in the diagnose machine, not 100% but maybe 80% it may be the clutch, piston or O-ring in your gearbox have been worn out.
Anyway which gear monitoring code are you facing? In the diagnose machine, they will mention gear monitoring 1 (1st gear got problem) , gear monitoring 2 (gear 2 got problem) and so on.
And don't worry, the price is not 25k. That is truly very HIGH.

elixir;426741 said:Bro chetz, pls keep us posted on what's wrong with your gb. curious to know too. well, 25k sounds crazy to me.
when the gb indicator light up, that's because it went into 'limp home mode'. it only stay in one gear like you said, the 3rd gear. when you restart the engine, it goes off and may come back after a while.
i doubt changing the camshaft sensor would help. camshaft sensor problem usually cause rough idling or shut off during idling. fault code will fall under DME but gearbox fault code is under EGS. its totally a different selection of diagnostic. as for changing the oil, some worked and some didn't. about the gasket, do you see any leaking?? if not, why mess with it.
last thing, after you refurbished the gb or bought a recond one, take the car for a spin and diagnose EGS oil temperature. if the temperature is high, change the oil cooler too. 100deg C to 11+ deg C should be ok.main problem for gb failure is due to heat.
the cost of refurbishing depends on what you change, selector switch, torque converter, pump, gears, clutch plates, seals, bearings, solenoid, valve body, hoses, oil cooler. it rarely exceed 10k, i would say.
if you can get a recond gearbox with 1 year warranty, then it's fine but I doubt so. refurbishing the gearbox will give you a 1 year warranty, some even 2 years. do the math bro.
cheers...
