Raub Breakfast Run ~ Sept Official Drive

Guys, I really enjoyed the drive, my 1st ever amd looking forward to many more. But can I also make a suggestion as a newbie.

I think we should allow every participant in a convoy to work at their own pace. Some like speed, can drive real well, lotsa experience/skills or just have mighty huge kahunas and others rather enjoy the ride within their own limits. I for one found it difficult to catch up with most on the ride, apart from on the trunk roads as there was heavy traffic, so little chance for a clean breakaway by any one group. I know on the Karak highway I kept QD dead slow....but my apologies, I will not speed or drive beyond my comfort zone on stretches that I have no confidence, even if a Ferrari was in my hands. This being the case, maybe I will be the perfect sweeper.....hahahahahahaha. For me on highways which I am confident/used to like NKVE, North South can main any speed la no worries...but certain roads, kena jaga jaga lor. I guess each and everyone of us have different comfort zones, which I guess as a group we have to respect and cater to. Afterall, we want to go back to our loved ones in one piece  And above all, remember, these are public roads that we are driving on, what maybe safe for some, might not be for others :top:

My 2 cents worth, harapan = it makes sense.

ssmann, the sweeper is usually marshalled by a committee member on official drives; it is a very important role. don't worry about QD, it's his job not to leave anyone behind :)

Yes! you are right ssmann.

QD was designated as last car because he's the most responsible, cool headed, calm and collected family man in the whole bunch, despite of his occasional urge of rempit. If QD didn't turn up, it will be yours truly to sweep actually. See, we even have back up plan.. :D

It was a first trip for quite a few, so we need to gauge each's driving style, habit, and ability. QD would love to hear u volunteering as sweeper.. :D and why not?!

We all have a family to return to and what u see that day were mostly "responsible" rempit, I hear your remarks with a bit of reservation because you have yet to find out what your E38 can do.. u will be a different driver after few more sessions! :listen:

The drives actually give u opportunity to learn about the car, to improve our driving skill and many were a transformed individual after few drives... yazid can cerita to u each and everyone that was "converted".. :D Even an accountant after joining the club after buying a BMW thinking to learn a few maintenance tips to save cost, later realise its a big mistake. Now he's looking for Super Charger.. :p :D

Looking forward for your sign up in our next drive. :top:

QD, u will be promoted to Marshall

Most important message u brought up, "drive at your own pace".. this is very important.

I'm sure we can make some changes in the future to "improvise".

I have joined convoys and drives with few car clubs and ours still has a long way to go..
1) Waja Perfomance Club - very orderly, no overtaking, everyone has a walkie.
2) Club Audi M'sia (VAG) - no rules apply, follow own pace, good marshalling team, everyone has a walkie.
3) Auto Italia - balls out driving, no marshalls, no walkies, but stops for regroup... Mainly day drives (ulu yam, kuala klawang)...

Actually, we don't have a team of dedicated marshall cars. And marshall cars don't have to be the committee members, they can be any official members who have the capability to marshall and think on its feet.. I bet you've seen cars from other car clubs labeled as Marshall cars on the road ie Caldinas, Wajas, Satria GTi....

The Waja Performance Club in its heydays have its team of marshalls and the marshalls actually go on drives to practise marshalling... And it helps that most of the member cars have a Motorola Talkabout during the drive... And when they are on trunk roads, it made overtaking easy as they would be calling out "Clear clear clear" to overtake or "Traffic coming, clear after slow ass black BMW" :p Their convoy is very orderly and they will call out very clear road instructions when it comes to junctions, bla bla bla..

If the WPC can get its members to get the Moto Talkabouts, we should be about to do the same... the Moto talkabouts are

AB, lets have an outing early or mid Oct.. can ah?

The committee would be a handful with the AD preparation. Drives can always be arranged and not necessary all committee members must get involved to make it official. The few regular "suspects", which are none committee are good convoy marshalls. Only need a few committee to turn up on the actual day and it can be declared as official drive liao.

This Raub drive is a good example because it was actually initiated by deep who pulled out half way due to unforeseen circumstances [nothing wrong with that as it can happen to any1], the committee saw the overwhelming response and decided to get involved to ensure the drive is fun and safe for all.

We encourage drives! to learn more about Malaysia's great driving scenery, to learn more about your car, to improve your driving skill, to improve fellow members and club guests relationship, its a good team building opportunity for all, and leave the forum to the keyboard warriors like me.. :D

The committee can only do so much, we not only need you all to participate but also actively involved in organising. Its a good learning opportunity, who knows, you might be the next club president! :top:

Bro AB,

Thanks and agreed! And yes, I know it will only get better for a newbie like me once I understand and learn how to convoy. Count me in man on the rides going forward :top: I do have alot to learn.......

Super suggestion. How does 17th Oct sound??? Hehehehehe

Suggested escapades

1. Teluk Cempedak, Kuantan...think around 2 1/2 hours????
2. Port Dickson using trunk road via Banting, Jugra, Lukut
3. Teluk Intan using trunk road...dunno how, but I think it is possible via Kuala Selangor route

Hehehe....as you can see, I have a fascination for trunk roads :top:
