Most peoples when buy 2nd hand car will crazy to find the LOW mileage and 1st ownership car. Well example is one guy in this forum bought low mileage 325 E36...ended up spend arm & leg for repair cost. We should look for WELL MAINTAINCE car possible with full service history...low millage and ownership does not reflect the car is in good shape.

my 2 peso.

Banyak Makan Wang bro.. i agree.. i would take this as my experience in buying a car next time, however still afford to do the wear & tear as i know that when u buy a 2nd hand car dont expect it to be without problem, sending off my car this week to get my sensor, radiator & RPM fixed this week, checked with my mechanic last week when i fix my angel eye, he offered me CCFL ring for a very low price, he told me there is no leaking so far, only the power steering host is leaking and its not minor, planning to get it fixed as well

Good lah friend, if you want to keep going! :) Better to get a good mech like M-Speed to assess the whole car thoroughly including compression check, and list out all the things that need to done with the cost. Then you know what you getting into and can make a good choice.

My experience with first car was the same. When I realised I bought a bucket of problems, I thought I was stuck because of the loan but I talked to the bank officer and he advised me what I can do. Decide to cut loss and took the hit, but after that I got a good car and it serve me well with no constant headache and heartache.

Either decision to keep going or cut loss is okay, as long it's well considered decision. Don't do things blindly without plan. ;)

My first 2nd hand Beemer (ex-E36) was a well-maintained example when I got it but it turned to be Blackhole Makan Wang. Regular visits to the mech for different things i.e. radiator, aircon, door locks, etc. Got rid of it for a bigger and older model aka SLOTH (E34). Was not a well-maintained example when I got it, spent a bit and it has been more reliable then my ex-E36 with very much less visits to the mech. Sometimes it is your luck.... but generally, got a WELL-MAINTAINED one.

Yeah, I think always better to cut loss when you got a bad one. Then when you spend money on a better one, it's money well spend and you feel good about it and enjoy it.

Ha ha, I am even considering cutting my "losses" further by getting a Jappy and mod that kau kau. Might end up cheaper than maintaining my Beemer.... . How I wish I was as lucky as StRat....:D

No wonder the price of secondhand BMW is cheap... When I bring this topic to the forum during my early search.. many confusing replies...

Now.. we all kena penyakit BMW...

Somebody's meat, maybe your poison la.

What you expect from a forum?
Everyone have their own opinion.. hence that's why you get a "confusing" reply.

Anyway, getting a 2nd hand BMW regardless high mileage or low... u will still need to put some well earned moolah into it to become your ultimate baby lerr....

Err, cas?

Spend your money on fixing that 1-liter per day leak on your radiator first... more important than the angel eye. Trust me.

I had the same problem couple of years back, if it is the gasket head, start digging! Good Luck!

Can anyone advice what coolant to use? Many said to fill with RO water only..

Your advice please

Any branded ethylene glycol coolant is good. Colour should be green. Water alone has lower boiling point than glycol and has no anti-corrosion additives. Corrosion and resulting debris is what kills radiators.

When you mix coolant with water, use distilled water is better because tap water has a lot of impurities. Bottled distilled water is good enough, don't have to be battery water.
