Problem replying in threads under NEWS

I've been having problem posting replies for thread in the NEWS section. Maybe there is limitation to posting rights or what not. It keeps telling me the post is too short eventhough I have typed in at least 3x more characters.Anyway, perhaps in the future, thread starters (ie committees, admins, mods) should start the thread and then link to another thread for discussion and close the thread in the NEWS section making it solely for announcement. Discussion to be done in another thread.
