The E60 is a great car but I would seriously ask you to consider the 523i cos unlike Jap saloons, the E60 is a heavy bit of precision machinery! With a 520i, you might be quite surprised the car can barely move. The 523i should be much better while the 525i is ideal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but those recon 520 and 523 should be the 2.2l and 2.5l detuned engines right? Both would be around 170hp and 210Nm torque. So virtually identical performance figures.

For me, the 530 would be ideal. As Juan says, with such precision machinery, you would want adequate performance to match. The 525 is also OK if it is the latest upgraded engine (the 218hp one).

But if you just want the car for luxury and pampered cruising, then any one would do. Good luck man!

Go for 530d. One full tank of RM110.00 can go up to 800km easily and torque is above 500Nm

hi seniors!

Well i m another guy out there who is looking to get an E60 525 Japan Recon 2004/5.
My plan when i get hold of that sweet car is :) here goes :
1. M-Kit body
2. Rim to M5 19inch + conti tyres to spec.
3. The radio ( since japan spec ) need to modi --> this one pls advice from those seniors who has a recon Jap E60 experience....

By the way, where is the best place to diagnose the E60s before close the deal.
I know someone (AP holder) who can offer me quite a good deal for E60 (2004or2005orMspec) for both 525 or 530. Anyone interested to get cars together maybe for better deal perhaps :) group buy E60....hmmmms....sounds interesting.....perhaps.

Anyway I was offered a MSport 2005, 530 Jap Spec, mileage only 11K, white color, saw the car.....sliver all over....kick the acelarator....sound so virgin....also check the engine for those minor small thinglah..(usually check for those no so obvious part) very good..But to bad my budget is not at RM320K for the car. My budget is at 250K, so i m frankly looking for a good deal for E60.525.2004 or early 2005.

Well then...anyone got anything we newbies of E60 should know, pls share with me lah....will really appreciate it..
If anyone looking for a group buy....let me know....maybe we can get a good deal together....:) but frankly i m planning get it around end year.....or Jan 08 latest, so must start shopping now.

Also for those expert with bodykit mod ( not ori part lah ) of a good shop and competitive price + good workmanship, pls let me know....so i can make my E60 look nice to join the gang lah....one day.

cheer.....

hey guys..

came across someone who could offer E60's and a number of other cars for below market prices. these cars are apparently at port klang..got stuck during the AP saga some time back..means these cars have been idling awhile..

then recently read in the papers customs are planning to auction these cars..

well, this person say he can get the cars, all papers in order, and deliver the car in showroom condition..ie new paint, tyres, full service and 6 months guarantee...

am tempted as it sounds good...but yet sceptical..dont wan customs to tarik kereta after driving for few months...

any opinion on this guys??

If custom want to lelong, then what you have to do is to go directly and fill up the tender form. This i smuch safer.

thanks for all the reply ...
my budget not very sure la about 2xxk la...
i'm not worry about loan ... its budget for guideline so i wont splurge ...
basically plus modification nothing more than 300k (the lower the better)..
planning to go for m-tec kit with hamann lips i wonder how much is that ...
and i think i'll go for 19 inch cos 20" tire is like 30-35 series its too thin scared the comfort for such a car goes down the drain .. but i dunno wether i should lower the ride or not with 19 ..how much does the lowered coil cost ???..guess bodykit , spray , wheels, and hid will cost up to 20k ..
and juz some add on for audio maybe another 10k cos i got some of my high end amps and subs still with me .. so guess juz tint the glass a lil darker will do ...
how much is the insurance for the damn car thats the thing that worry me the most ... wat bout road tax ... dun mind lettin me know from 520 - 530 i'm not goin anything higher than dat ...
yeah i agree with the fact 520 u would loose some power but i'm old enough to drive slow and enjoy the ride .. used to have turbo charged engine and all i think its juz plain stupid so now its time to relax enjoy the ride (look good its also one of it ) hahahahha
a few q here ...
1. m-tec kit price ?
2.hamann lip price ?
3.m5 19" rims ?
4.19" tires ?
5.bulb type for all front lamps ?
6.silver tints ?

sorry for all the newbie question gotta think right and get it right or i'll have no choice but to pick a murano instead !!!hahahah
thanks guys

Bro, RM300k you can get much more than 520 523. If u hv budget, no need to go for this range. 530 05 m-sport RM310 at Aman Razack, u tekan abit i suspect they will let it go below 300.

No point spending so much to make the car look good if it doesnt have any go.

If you want performance and cheaper 530d 05 can get around rm270 anytime eat 530i. 500nm torque!!

Wow, has it been just 10 months ago when I wrote that? Well, now I'm a happy owner of a 530, so I walked the talk also

So far so good, a totally different category from my 325. Acceleration feels relaxed, but when you glance at the speedo, then only you realize you're going faster than you thought you were. Also the dynamic drive makes you think you're going slower round corners than you actually are. In short, a cultured ultimate driving machine :)

Having said that, I still prefer to use the 325 for spirited driving. More fun to chuck around corners. Power feels rawer and more drama too. Somehow, I feel the 530 is too "gentlemanly" for that. :)
