Ladies,in order to subdue my mid-life crisis, I bought a year 2000 japan-spec Z3 2.0 auto. Fell in love with it after looking at the evergreen design although the test-drive was something else. But I'm still trying to grasp those buttons with abbreviations; DSC, S, M etc scattered around the gearlever. Appreciate it if someone can fill me in on this:1. To activate those buttons - before engaging the gear or on-the-fly?2. Is there a manual/handbook somewhere that I can put my dirty hands on?3. I believe S is for sport, but M?4. Any suggestion to verify the country of origin for the Z based on its chassis & engine number? Thanks for your assistance.regards - Chot

Thanks sideways.

Please check the newbie thread.

1. on-the-fly

2. i dont know about getting an online version for the Z3 but most functions will be similar to an E46 except for the obvious like the roof

3. M = Manual

4. it should have VIN embedded in your windscreen and you can trace from there. (but since you mentioned Japan-spec, it should be from Japan, no?)

Hi Chot, we should meet up and share our mid life crisis. I too hv a z3 but UK spec. Not many z3 owners here. We can share some ideas on the car, what say u?

Well, I hope I'm right about the country of origin. Just heard a few rumors about 'potong' cars from Hong Kong/Singapore making its way to Malaysia and imported as Japan-spec cars.

Then again, come to think of it, who in their right frame of mind would be bothered to gather japanese stickers, labels etc to be used in those poser cars. But I know it can be done.

How wishy-washy can you get.

Anyway, appreciate those answers very much.

:beaten: Couldn't find the remedy until i read Chot's post.

 Yeah... Z3 for mid-life crisis management... Brilliant!

B) So the hunt began &... found - [Z3, 97/98, Local, 1 Owner, 33,000km]

:getyourfactsright: Have just paid RM500.00 (in KL) as booking for the Cutie & at the same time S$2,637.20 (in S'pore) as deposit for a Hard Top Cover.

:nyehehe: I'm going that far! Hope you are right Chot! :yahoo:

z3007/ Wood Head,

this should keep us on the straight & narrow but not for long. Better than getting a bike. I initially wanted an Elise but was advised against it for a daily ride.

I thought you can get the hardtop done in KL. The price range should be around 8-9k. What's the price like in S'pore?

We should meet up one bright sunny day, preferably with our top down. Might be a while though before I'm back in KL.

In the meantime, cheers!

Hi Chot,

The Hardtop costs RM19k+ in KL. It's S$6,593.00 in S'pore.

I got it with 20% off. :yahoo: The promo ends TODAY!

Hi chot/ z3007,

Yeah, it'd be fun to meet up for a little spin arround. :yahoo:

But Topless...hmmm...where can we find a non-polluted place arround KL! :yes!:

BTW, how do you 2 like the car?

I'm going to get the car out in a couple days but a little worried I might regret buying it. Wld appreciate you advice.

Cheers! :D

Hi Wood Head,

I'm afraid I won't be much of a help but from what I've endured from my mrs., its a load of fun. I'm sure z3007 will be able to fill you in on the details.

I was recommended a workshop by the dealer, it's in USJ called Just Ahead Auto, Taipan Triangle. Planning on putting a strut-bar if the ride is not up to par.

Just enjoy the ride and take it all in your stride.

Hi chot,

As you said & I felt the same too, the test drive was something else.

The steering is rather heavy, the ride is bumpy. :beaten:

I'm not too sure if that's how or what it is meant to be. :aggressive:

Anyway, thanks for dropping the line.

:eek:k:

Hi Wood Head, yup its abit heavy and ride bumpy, this aint no Merc. BTW its loads of fun, just remember to take good care of it. Strut bar? can u get that here? How much?

Hi z3007,

I have some questions to ask urgently about the 17" Rim.

Wonder if I can speak to you over the phone. Appreciate if could help me out.

My email: teg_ec@yahoo.com

Thanks :eek:k:

Hi z3007,

Of course you can get if only it's original part you are talking about.

I'm getting it from Performace Motor Ltd. S'pore., which is a sister co. of Auto Bavaria. I don't know the price of Strut Bar, but if you like I can let you know who to contact.

;)

Hi guys & ladies....

I got my Z3 2.0 last year and just love it. I am looking forward to meet other Z3 drivers. Perhaps we should organise a TT session in KL to get to know each other?

Cheers,
zroadster

Dude, don't be so exclusive and forget about inviting other Z models. I'll be surprise to know how many Z3 and Z4 owners are in this club.

I like your suggestion on going for drive. I think we can probably arrange a small group to drive around some trunk roads. I must admit that I don't know much of the Klang Valley. I have discovered a trunk road not too far from Genting that would be fun to drive. But be warned, I like to drive spiritedly. B)

One run, and RZ4's a veteran, eh?

God help us...!
Veteran.... hmmm... I doubt that, I've moved up from rookie status, but far from veteran. I still a little uncertain on how to get there at this time.

I'm here to help facilitate the Z model owners to come out and play. We're a small niche group that only drive in fair weather  When it rain, we don't come out and play.
