hello sifus... recently got stopped by JPJ near LCCT and issued a written warning to replace all the oem dark tinted glass in our toyota MPV before may 2010. what should i do? replacing them may cost a bomb... thx

Produce a medical cert stating that you're allergic to the sun hence the need to have dark tinted glass :D

actually you are using black glass which normally all recond car came from japan with this glass.this glass is not approved by jpj which most of the people don't know & most of the dealer don't bother cause change glass costly & some car don't have clear glass.anyway law is law you need to change it.

to solve the issue, u need to install a twin screw in your mpv. so next time they cant catch you.

If i not mistaken, theres an accs shop beside tawakkal hospital that have rental service for clear class for JDM MPV to do inspection. They charge around rm300. After inspection just change back to ori dark glass.

Until today, I still could not make any sense why 'tint dark glasses' is actually illegal. In other thread, it is listed under '7 kesalahan menyebabkan kemalangan' - is dark glasses really cause accident just like using emergency lanes or run over the red lights??

If it will cause accidents, why government cars and also called VIP cars have their glasses tint? They will not cause any accident kah? The weather here is too hot now. With dark glasses, it can reduce heat. At least it works for me while chauffeuring my kids =)

the dealer did this when we bought the car... swap the dark glass with clear ones for JPJ inspection then swap it back but this is only a short term solution. anytime i get stopped by a JPJ road block the same thing will happen again

anyone here tried this method b4? JPJ will ask how does tinting the side & rear windows help with the allergic if u're driving the car? i think i can get a medical cert for myself but a bit hard to get for the whole family hehe

JPJ tinted glass laws were from days when country was under threat of communism. remember when full-faced helmets were illegal? since then, nobody has had the balls to ammend them; and also simply because those laws only apply to ordinary folks like you and me.. go figure.

:smokin:dark tinted windscreen/glasses are part of the "contributing factor" to accidents and not the main cause .....The main culprit is the "driver", period! be it clear glass or rainbow coloured glass, if driver is an idiotic, reckless and inconsiderate individual...accidents will bound to happen.....cabutzzzz:vroam:

I thought they suspended this ruling as the last time they did this, created lots of complaint from the public.

Last I heard, they are review the ruling to consider increasing the allowable tint...

Trucks and vans don't have any glass, it's metal. Why can they then be exempted?

I had dark OEM glass on my Toyota Wish, thankfully I was never stopped.

hahahahah...this is really 1malaysia boleh....hahahaha

If thats the case, then the government should raid all the Optical shop and confiscate all the sunglasses on display.:smokin:

Plus the customs should step up their inspection on imported tint films, to deter users from buying them.

don't forget these laws provide an avenue for these enforcement officers to earn side income as well. hence the flip flopping when it comes to reviewing them.

ya now they are starting back on the rear seatbelt buckling again...whenever they need money there always a simple solution to suck the rakyats blood..
