Hi All, Read somewhere that RFT's are prone to leakages and suggested Nitrogen refills to prolong tyre pressure.Just wondering if there are any F30 owners out there with N2 in their wheels. Would appreciate your feedback..

Hi vin75

Had N2 in my stock 18" Conti RFTs. Did it as its supposed to make the tyre pressure less affected by temperature changes.

Do share the links on info abt RFTs r prone to leakages. I've used 2 sets (and goin to 3rd v soon) and so far so good.

I have used N2 quite a few times and do not see any real difference in terms of how long the air tyre pressure is maintained.

N2 helps when tyres are used in harsh conditions such as on a track. It's not really the nitrogen itself, air is almost 80% nitrogen, but rather the moisture in compressed air that causes the air pressure to go up.

For our DD, perhaps when running long distance, it's hardly going to help that much. Also it's good to check your tyres often, you may discover some object that is embedded in it. Always check your tyre pressure on a regular basis.

Hi _M_,
Thanks for sharing. Apparently using N2 reduces the rate of pressure loss, not sure how true this is?

Hi tIANcI,
Figured that with N2 in wheels , need not have to check air pressure that often. Thanks for your feedback though...

Vin ... yes N2 reduces the loss of pressure as the molecules of N2 is bigger than O2 ... that is true but then, do we really need to wait for 6 months compared with 1? Its always good to check your air pressure on a regular basis and not till the car system informs you or when the tyres look kinda flattish ...
