Pump Euro4 diesel and your engine will clatter less. Just came back from Bangkok and damn, the diesel trucks and cars there are so quiet!

True that.i was in Uk last month driving around in a diesel hyuandai i40 (or something like that) and with their diesel not only was it less clatter it even had a nice little bit of growl when accelerating

Best to keep your original stock exhaust in the event when you want to sell your 328i in the future

Congrats on your new m performance exhaust. Do keep us updated on how your new exhaust perform.

Been driving with the new exhaust for 4 days now and it feels like the car became more sluggish and less torquey... maybe since the car sounds louder, my brain immediately thinks the car needs to go faster lol... after all its all according to my butt dyno. Could it be loss of back pressure?

Overall, the exhaust note is awesome! When u punch it or hit 2.5k rpm... that feeling is just amazing, definitely worth the money. Its quiet when u chill drive too.

Will post clips later tonight.

Time for a ECU remap. Maybe wait for the m performance power kit for 328.

Yeah I've been looking into that for awhile now.... Still no news....
But I read somewhere that the 4er has 428i ppk.... Dunno if can use

"Now, let's take a look at the numbers: the stock 428i has a 2-liter turbocharged engine with 245 HP and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. With the M PPK the car will reach 272 HP and 287 lb-ft (390 Nm) of torque.

The stock 435i has 306 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque available. With the M PPK it will reach 340 HP and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, not to mention that some parallel measurements showed the increase to be even bigger.

As for the diesel 420d that is currently available only in Europe, the stock car has 184 HP and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque, whilst when pumped up it will reach 200 HP and 309 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. All from a 2-liter diesel unit."

Woohoo. Will the 328 PPK comes with the same hp and torque increase as the 428? Can we use the 428 PPK on the 328?

Yeah it boggles me... the ppk came out for the 428 but not the 328??? :39:

The ppk just an ECU remap or comes with parts changed?

Is the performance exhaust diameter larger than the stock exhaust? Usually when swapping to a larger diameter exhaust piping, there is definitely a loss in low end torque but a gain in top end power.

If I'm not mistaken, the mid pipe connecting the MPE is the same diameter (75mm) but the MPE exhausts tips are slightly larger than stock.

I've been reading other forums and no one reported any loss of low end torque... maybe its just me. Then again, I also did not do the golf tee mod so back pressure still builds up when the valve is closed, no?

Performance exhaust is normally designed to improve high end performance by improving exhaust flow or reduce back pressure. This will normally result in a slight loss of low end torque. Standard stock exhaust is designed for drivability at the normal speed so low end torque is more important. So stock exhaust is normally more restrictive in nature.

I doubt I will be able to feel the high end torque since I hardly push the car near the redline.... bought it cause it sounds so much better than the non-existent stock noise

So do you feel the loss of some low end torque a problem and affects the car drivability. Do you have to rev more to get the car moving? Is the gain in sound more than outweighs the loss of low end torque?

Initially, I did feel displeased with the outcome. I mean its not like the car totally lost its torquey feeling, it was small but noticeable. But as I drove it more regularly the displeasure sort of eased in... and now I tend to rev a little higher before switching gears. In the end I don't mind the higher revs since only then you can really hear the exhaust growl. In the end, I can comfortably say that the sound definitely outweighs the slight loss of low end torque.

In all honesty, this is based on my "feel". No dyno tests so I could just be imagining things and the loss in low end torque may in fact not be real at all...

I would like to know the comments of other f30 owners that did an exhaust mod. Would appreciate if you guys could share your views. Thanks.

Is your car a petrol 320i or 328i ?

With the 328i, the torque loss should be negligible since it has the valve control.

If you are on the 320i, perhaps a chip will solve the issue ?
