Need help from those who using the IR remote key

My e39 also have the rear mirror as same as your car. I believed my car also using IR remote originally but now i am using diamond shape remote key. I think my ex owner changed something so that i can use the RF remote now.And i found this which is showing the location of the remote receiver --> http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho....php?p=4857175 Then the GM III module is use to control to open the door. I think no need to change the GM III module but this is not sure.You can take your IR remote key and go to Bavarian Auto Parts Sdn Bhd and ask them if you want to change to diamond shape remote key then what you need to change and dont forget the ask the price. The reason why i recommend you to change to diamond shape remote key is because BMW remote got memory of your car setting. It can memorize your seat, steering, air cond and comfort mode access. I think you change to the normal alarm then will lost all this functions. Post me if you get the answer.Thanks

EWS is not only for starting the engine ? EWS also for remote receiving ?Now is talking about the remote of open the doors are you sure control by the EWS ? Are you saying that if we want to change the IR remote key to diamond shape key then we need to change the EWS ?

Diamond shape key is RF key, if using IR remote there is a IR receiver at the bottom of the rear mirror. So if using RF key, where is the RF receiver located ?

Yes it is. But that post only the discussion about IR remote key. Now this thread is asking those who has the IR remote helps me to find out what we need to change in order to have diamond shape key.

I have call to Quill PJ asking about this issue but they said they will not gonna do it for you. They said only outside people will do it. So Quill only will follow your original spec according to your chassis number. They will not do any modification.

I removed it from my car and found out that trunk, power windows , all door locks and interior lights will not working. If really want to change the IR remote this GM3 module might need to change also because it use to control the trunk. When using IR remote you will not able to open the trunk by using the remote.

For those use IR remote control which looking to change to 3 buttons remote control, there is a bad news for you guys that is you must change the alarm which using the 3 buttons remote control.

For BMW car is not changing the alarm. You need to change the antenna amplifier. Antenna amplifier is the receiver of the remote.
