OK got you. You were actually referring to your previous postings.

It look like the valet key do not disable the alarm if the alarm is activate by the master remote key.

i think i did that, but the alarm was activated..n since i was just testing for the alarm, i can easily press the unlock button on the remote and the alarm went off...
if in the real remote malfunction case, i wouldnt know how to turn off the alarm...yet...
:p
anyone knows?

Yes, if you arm the alarm via the remote "LOCK" push button, the alarm would be activated regardless whether you use the Master Key, Spare Key or Valet Key by manually open the door at the door handle.

The alarm is also triggered if the front bonnet or rear boot is open when the alarm is arm.

Yes, I also figure how to turn off the alarm without the master key.. However, due to security reason, this information should NOT be made known to the general public. I don't to be blame if your E46 is stolen..

mine is e46 318i 2003 ckd..

I think your CKD comes with alarm as standard.

Lock your door via remote control by pressing the "LOCK" button.

Open the door manually with the key at the door handle. If the buzzer goes off, then your car got alarm installed. :listen:

Alarm also can be disable.. :listen::listen: but cannot tell..:rolleyes:

Jerman, if you dont mind sacrificing your key, I will try to revitalise one your key that gone to ICU.

Just pass to me when we meet up at the TT. Maybe we can do a open heart surgery and you all can look.

If you lock the lock by remote and can open the door manually with the key on the door handle, then your car does not have alarm. You can also confirm that your car do not have alarm if when you lock by remote, the signal light do not flash once.

i think japan spec usually are supplied without alarm coz nobody dare to steal it.

y japan spec nobody dare to steal?

bro.. because in Japan, most of the conti car belong to the Yakuza..

Sorry bro, meant it as a joke..

In Japan culture, stealing is not common. Insurance will pay for full amount whether your car have alarm or not.

Can anyone help me out please?

Actually I'm thinking to make a spare key with remote. I just called up AB Kuching, they want me to registered with them (RM350) before I can order a new key because I bought the car from a recon shop. Is there such procedure over in the west malaysia?

Anyone have any "jalan" to help me to get a spare key beside going through AB? All green card & IC can be provided to prove I'm the owner.

Many thanks.

evox2, when you bought your car, how many keys did you receive from your dealer?

only one key with remote & a plastic key. Jarance, you know any way to make spare key?
The mech say I'm using square type, i need get back that type, cant change to the newer diamond type. How true?

True on requirement to register car but very surprised they're asking rm350 for it! I went through the same, i.e. bought second hand car that was imported and needed new key to replace the lousy tacky melted square key. Went to nearest AB branch and was informed had to register car and that can only be done at the Glenmarie branch. It's free though. I later ordered key from their Sg Besi branch.

Wanted to order key the same day at Glenmarie but stupid lowya rubber on key so badly worn that feller cannot tell whether unlock arrow pointing up or down. I asked what's the problem brother, he say cannot order man bcos computer want to know arrow point up or down. I say up down also no problem for me. he say cannot bcos up down will say whether key is 433 or 315 - different part number. I say 433 should be the right one but he say cannot like that simply agak. I told him I read on internet 315 is frequency used in USA and 433 for Europe and since my car from UK (that's what the system say), must be 433 lor. He say better he check with his supervisor first. his supervisor on leave but he say don't worry he will call the handphone. call a few times no answer, he say no choice leave mobile number he will call me on monday. I say dem difficult man bcos i come from very far and weekday i working dem long hours leh. I ask him there got internet or not we can double confirm straight away. Then I see his face like a bit beh song already i faster shadap and say ok la better wait for his supervisor to confirm. he also tell me, since u register car already, can go to nearest AB branch to order key and no need purposely come to glenmarie. To his credit, I believe he seriously wanted to get it right.

erica, u mean u can registered at AB for free?? Then what a rip off from AB here.
Do you know how much is the key set?

confirm free. that's when i registered the e46 mid last year. when i register e34 with them 9 years back also free. new key is around rm950. cannot remember exact amount but i've posted it in the e46 maintenance section.
