Hi all,

Just an update - I've decided to go for another conti instead of the UDM. I didn't want to commit too much initial cost on the car AND I didn't want to get a car as old as 20 years old, most E34s that fit this criteria were going for 25k or so. So after looking around and checking with friends too, I went for another 14 year old conti below 20k :) I will still keep in mind the E34 or even E90 :p and might go for it few years later :)

Thanks all!!

. . . 1989 525i [E34] bought in March 2007 with 293,000Km for RM19,000. By Dec 2010 had spent additional RM 46,000 for repairs; total invested...RM 65,000! Hey. . . that's still RM 210,000 cheaper than a brand new, cheapest 3-series! Dig it. Repairs included full engine overhaul, exchange rebuilt gearbox, brakes, suspension, evaporator, compressor, hoses, new Michelins, window tint, battery, odometer-reset coding plug by BMW dealer [Odometer stopped at 300,000KM]. . . .

thanks for sharing.. no offense, but imho, i'm not willing to spend THAT much money on a car, bmw or not. and just a thought, if you've spent 46k on the car over past 3 years, this means rm15k per year. wouldn't it be better to buy a brand new BMW, and take the depreciation cost? what's the depreciation cost like for a new BMW? 20k/year? after 3 years, sell it off and you'll still end up with the almost same amount 'invested' but fantastic new driving machine.... just imho, 1989 is really old, 21 years old... it can never feel the same as a new bmw, even if it's just 3 series? maybe i'm wrong....

quick check for used BMW 320s.... 2007 model around RM150k, what's the new price for a 320 in 2007? :)
