yeah.. yellow pace car should look awesome. can i ride shot gun with you in it?

4L roadtax is prohibitively expensive. but 3L i can still stomach, and V8... mmmmm....

how much hp and torque does that monster pull anyway? i can imagine it'd be a hoot in the wet with 235 series rubber!

ok let me go and psycho mom first. it will be her car afterall. even if i sneak it off on weekends for trackday. ;)

If u thinking of 400000000000cc, just buy a cheap cheap E34 (of couse the body is the periority) then buy half cut n convert it......2.5,3.0,3.5,4.0.......whateverlah :D

E34 530i shares the same engine (M60B30) as the E32 730i and E38 730i :

M60B30, 2977cc, 218bhp@5800rpm, 290Nm@4500rpm

Redd, you can also contact Mark D'Sylva for the EAT chip. He has done some since the 3.0 V8 is pretty common in North America and the forummers (bimmer.info) gave it two thumbs up!!! With the chip, the car rocks!! :nyehehe: :nyehehe:

I've tried contacting them, last time ...

Problem is, u hv to check whether the car coms with 'catalytic' or not.
EAT chip configuration takes into a/c the cat.

I ended up not buying from them.

For E34 that comes with V8 engine, I presumed there will be a catalytic converter. Not too sure about the 535i that is sold locally tho'. Aiya, can always jack it up and have a look :nyehehe: :nyehehe:

thanks all for the advice. my mom went with the E34 520i. couldnt convince her to get the V8 beast. :(

but the car is in excellent condition for a 15yr old machine. immaculately maintained! really a good find. got it for RM27k.

anyway, the car used to be serviced at this place called BM Auto in Jln Ipoh. Are they any good? Should i keep going there?

i figure i'll do a complete fluid change once - brake, clutch, gear, power steering, engine oil - and then maintain from there.

the car needs a new rpm meter and water temp meter. anyone know where i can get some used ones for cheap?

hey redd,

if everything is as good as you said then 27 is not bad at all.

there's a chop shop in ChanSowLin that specializes in E34, u can find alomst anything E34 there, las ttime I went there were 2 sets of F/R M5 bumpers.

pm me if u need direction

27K for auto or manual? If auto, the price is OK.....

BM Auto is below Calvin Tan's shop, actually its located at Segambut. Well, they are quite professional and a little pricey. Since the car is maintained by them, I have no doubts that its in great condition. They do also maintain BMWs sold by Naza and etc.

Rgds

Went to BM Auto to get all the little niggly problems fixed and all the fluids flushed. The mechanic there recommended that I also do the timing belt (I was under the impression that the I6 would have a chain?) and - being an Alfa owner - the sweat started to come out.

Turns out the E34 timing belt set is bleeding cheap! Something like RM80 for the belts, and RM50 for each bearing? Is that right?! The Alfa belts are orders of magnitude pricier, and even the Proton belts cost more! How can this be?

Anyway it was a pleasant surprise. :)

redd

The M20 engines (Pre 1991 , 12V) use timing belts while the M50 engines (1991 onwards, 24V) use timing chains. Not sure why the BMW timing belts are cheaper than Alfa....sometimes the belts are not original BMW but OE, though the ori BMW parts are sometimes made by the same manufacturers!

RM80 is about right for OE... Original is about RM150, I think...

who said BMW Parts are expensive?? ;)
