Update:

My car's accelerator pedal snapped moments ago whilst exiting towards Federal Highway. Heard a loud snap & then felt no response at all after applying pressure on the pedal.

Now just waiting for tow truck cos I probably can't clear any uphill slopes to reach home.

The car still revs when I touched the cable in the engine bay but no luck with the foot pedal... :(

What a way to start April.

Sorry to hear about your predicament bro. I'm sure it'll be sorted out accordingly...

Gosh, bro eggie, that could have been dangerous! I'm very glad you're OK. Hope the poor gal gets patched up quick... but, of late, it does seem that she's not been holding up too well :(

Well, am rather thankful that this happened early on Sunday, rather than a weekday. Otherwise it would've been much more worse like getting stuck in congestion, and being one of the root causes of the massive congestion on rush hour.

It's unfortunate really, cos the minute I heard that snap coming from the pedal, I just knew something was wrong. :(

Hopefully it's just a case of some loose cabling or wiring which connects the pedal...

Sent car to get the fogs fixed yesterday noon:

Now the fog lamp bulb holders have been modified [again], and I was asked to get the cover for that holder itself... Probably need to scour eBay or check with Bavarian Auto.

Pics taken this morning:

Despite the mishap, I actually feel the car looks great even when on top the flatbed.

Come to think of it, this was the first time I saw my car being hoisted on the flatbed. :D

I had this happen to me before bro. on my e30. This was in the middle of traffic. I just connected the link behind the acceleration pedal with some tape and drove straight to the workshop. Should be a cheap fix tho!

Thanks for the tip JDY.

Too bad I'm not that great with DIY. However I might give it a try.

Actually tried to 'look busy' by getting down on the roadside and knocking any part behind the pedal in the vain hopes of making it work, but I think what I did was probably fumble around behind the metal parts of the pedal...

Car is up and running again.

Replaced the whole accelerator cable with a brand new one from Bavarian Auto and the car is as good as always.

Having said that, it's with sadness that I am to announce that my parents have decided to put my car up for sale. It's a reluctant sale, especially after all the love and money spent on doing up the car and maintaining her.

Shall see how it goes. The car is in good condition; just need to replace the left wiper as I'm still waiting for parts, and after a really good detailing, she'll look like no other E32 out there.

Dad has set a starting price of RM15K [negotiable].

Sorry to hear about the car being put up for sale bro. I reckon you'll miss her, especially after all that work and dedication you put into maintaining her! Good luck though!

My dad listed it yesterday on Mudah.

Hopefully bro! Have a nagging feeling it's the white E38 my dad drove home last week though.

If indeed that's the car, I'll probably want to transfer the Alpina rims to the E38.

And definitely gonna get rid of that awful front and rear bumper.

Current journey looking forward to end well...New journey starting soon. BTW, that white E38 is with what engine?

15K bro? God how much has these car depreciated.

You couldnt buy a good condition Kenari for RM15K. So 15k for a much loved and majestic E32 would be a good deal for somebody I guess.

Thanks Morrogan bro.

Yeah, it's been one heckuva ride. Wanted to sell it previously a couple of years back but decided not to and then embarked on the Alpina wannabe journey.

But I guess it's time to move on.

The white E38 is a 730iL. I doubt it runs on a Jap heart...

Well, in this day and age, I guess most car buyers often buy with their heads instead of their hearts. So, I suppose cars with big CC engines [and inevitably the crazy road tax structure] will put off many buyers to really get the chance to drive a really sturdy example of BMWs made in the late 80s; thus the massive depreciation...

Eggie,
So sad... after all your tlc on her all this while. Yes roadtax is a big factor in bolehland. In us, college student are using e28 535is, as you can see in
mye28.com
3.5L, 218bhp :38: :driver: ...damn rm4.2k roadtax

So after this e38 alpina wannabe? :top:

Well, I just went out on a brief drive with her moments ago. She just felt so new and tight after having the new accelerator cable fitted.

Somehow I feel the rawness of the E32 will not be easy to replicate.

Shall see how things turn out.

Haha, E38 Alpina wannabe, that one I need to consult Badrul already.

If not mistaken, E38 730 is powered by a v8. If E38 728, then it's a 6cyl 24v.
