i'm most eager myself eggie, but looks like the car will only go in the paintshop sometime mid-december :(

Ahh well. Guess after all the time you'd spent waiting, what's another couple of months huh? Slowly but surely!

Would be nice to see another ride with Alpina boot decals too. Been seeing far too many ///Ms and AC boot badges... Those Alpinas are damn elusive!

But funny how quite a number of E30s cropped up on Sunday sporting those Alpina rims...

not elusive la... just place your credit card next to your computer when online

Hahaha. That will be a very expensive hobby then. :4: Still waiting patiently for Mr. Postman to come bearing the parcel containing my new BMW emblems... :)

Oh joy, look what turned up today!

New pair of emblems finally arrived from the UK.

Gotta fit them up by the weekend and keep the other as a spare.

PS: I still have a spare Taiwanese replica Alpina emblem lying somewhere. Hahaha... Oh well.

next for you will be the front and boot spoilers :)

Haha, front lip I am aware of, but I never knew that E32 Alpinas had boot spoilers?

Finally had time to replace the replica Alpina badge which has been adorning my bonnet for almost half a year already, and it's fading really fast. Haha... Oh well.

IMAG1545.jpg

Tools I need - Just a small flat head screwdriver and some cloth to protect the paintwork surrounding the badge will suffice.

IMAG1546.jpg

Tada, just a few mins of prodding, and the emblem is finally out.

IMAG1547.jpg

New one just pops in effortlessly. :)

IMAG1548.jpg

Out with the old & in with the new.

Anyways side note:

Car paintwork is deteriorating really badly... As you can see from the pics above, lots of those zits on the bonnet, and it practically litters the whole car.

And now, my boot has some epic paint crack... Aiyoyo...

IMAG1549.jpg

Cracks's getting longer each time I look at it. :(

IMAG1550.jpg

Big ouch man...

don't put on the new emblems yet eggie.. send her for a RM6k paintjob first

Hahaha. RM6K will probably be a very thorough and everlasting paintjob man... Almost the price of the car itself... :24:

6k will get you a thorough rub-down (not bare metal tho), ceramic clearcoat, and a finish that is mirror smooth and ripple free. not many people give a crap about such things tho, which is too bad.. :(

Yeah, my dad probably isn't keen on such a thorough resto paintjob too. Seems like most of the people would rather cut costs and save time and keep rushing the painters for work to be done quickly. This would probably be a bad thing in the long run. Can see paint peeling or bubbling on the other cars at home, mainly cos they're 24/7 exposed to the elements...

Anyways, for such a paintjob to be carried out, I'd need to save up for like many more years! Hahaha. Need to save up for the ultimate priorities for now - house and marriage...

yehh that's the place ...but looking into your current paintwork defect ...IMHO you may need to left and right fender replaced ....too much of cements on it ....

Yeah highly likely. The fenders are in very bad shape... :(

Hey bro, I once checked with Bavarian Auto in Subang a few months ago whether they had stock for the emblems for my E32, but they ran out. Plus, it would've cost me about > RM100 just for a piece actually.

10.10.11

Reached a very significant milestone today.

Car has covered 255,000 miles as of 8:30pm. That's = 410,295 KMs covered.

Ooh la la. And the car shows no sign of letting up. :adore:
