Hmm, I kinda like having the car in its original Dolphin Grey colour... Of course I want a black car but I think better play safe.

So far I only know of a couple of paintshops that have the colour code for Dolphin Grey.

just provide the paint colour code to any decent painter. they'll know what to do.

Driving impressions after the change in accelerator pedal?

Still takes some getting used to though! Pedal feels way too light, and I need to relearn how much weight to modulate the acceleration. Cannot always pedal to the metal...

Btw, I noticed something rather interesting today. Was driving along the middle lane on my way back home from work along ELITE, and along came this speeding Avanza. I followed it from behind and noticed that the car was wobbling so badly man! I mean, it's ELITE highway! Not that bad surface condition too, but my eyes were almost amazed by the number of times the car kept bouncing about as it took in the stretch from Putra Heights till USJ... :p

Sharing a couple of shots of the new plate numbers. Looks nicer now with the smaller font. :top:

Sharing a shot of the 1 Series M I came across in Macau last weekend... Earlier posted in the Bimmer Spotting thread too.

Cars like these will probably never be in my garage for a lifetime, but still, it felt almost surreal coming across such a magnificent ride in the flesh that time. :adore:

Let me know if you want a good painter. I can give you the contact to the guy who repainted both my cars (and serjit's E38 too). Very happy with his work and price. He will have the paint code for BMW too.

Thanks Andrew. Will contact you when the need to get the car painted arises. Where is your painter located anyways? Need to convince my parents whether they would be fine with sending the car to another place instead of the usual paintshops my dad usually frequents.

Kg Kayu Ara, opposite Optimum.

Updates for the weekend:

Just dropped my car off at Optimum this morning. Car had been losing water over the past couple of days - noticed something terribly wrong as I never had to use up more than a 1.5L bottle to refill the water tank. Brought it to Optimum, who diagnosed it as a faulty radiator. Currently being worked on and replaced with a new set even as I am typing this.

Then went with my dad to Haki-Trade, managed to source for some parts for the E32. I'll be BMW-less for about 2 weeks starting Monday as car is scheduled to go for a full outer body respray. Gonna replace the badly scarred front left wing as well.

Will probably start debadging the car and removing the emblems today. As for those Alpina pin stripes, I guess I'll let the paintshop do the work. Haiya, maybe it's time to get the proper E32 stripes this time around. :)

PS: Came across a E32 750iL front cut at Haki. Popped the hood open and saw it had a V12 engine and the wide nose...

Please post pics not only on the finished paint but the whole process. should be interesting...

Yes yes! More photos of the in progress adventure, please! I just finished reading this thread - what a journey! Honestly, this is what defines a real enthusiast. I can only bow down in awe.

Got the car back from Optimum last Saturday afternoon, after replacing the radiator with a new one.

Car is getting primed and ready to visit the paintshop this week, hopefully today. Giving her one last wash before she's off. Will be without my car for about 2 weeks. All decals will be removed. Chance to start afresh then with the correct pinstripes at a later date. Car fully debadged, emblems removed, rim caps removed to facilitate the paintjob.

Badgeless. Maybe naked bootlid would make the car more nicer.

Soon this badly tarnished front wing will be a thing of the past.

IMAG1785.jpg

Really bad shape. :(

Rims will be repainted too. Dad said he managed to work out with the painter to include it as well for the paintjob.

Can't wait for the end result.

Nice project bro. Whats the new colour or you will repaint the same colour..

Thanks Badrul. Gonna breathe new lease of life into her to give her the looks she always deserved.

Tempted to go for black, but heart says best to retain the Dolphin Grey colour.

Bro... Sophisto grey....

Sophisto grey is the same as E90/F10? Haha... Need to ask painter whether he has the code... But I think will still stick with same colour on the E32.
