Hi guys and gals... Don't know if i'm posting in the right forum but just thought of sharing my experience thus far with my E46 328i since i bought and owned from june 2006, the maintainance and mods :) After much thoughts and advise from fellow member and friends, i bought this E46 from my brother who was then thinking of trading in for his new car. When i bought it, there was just minor oil leak at the top valve cover gasket and water leaking somewhere causing top up every week. After one month of owning it, decided to do some repair on the oil leak and water leak. As i was on the job, i started figuring more things and got more things done on the car so hopefully it will last me a long more time before it need more repair. hehe.. Picture of my valve cover remove. And see all the soot and carbon build up over the years as it is a year 2000 model!!

I changed all my rubber seals on the valve cover, got some of the components cleaned of the carbon, replace my water pump, all belts, changed all water hoses, reserved tank changed, replace one power steering hose, fuel filter, new ngk plugs, replace all lube including transmission and axle oil (not change for 6 years!!) and replace my brake hoses with Goodridge braided hose. And my very clean engine bay on the 1st day it left the workshop after the 1st service and repairs.

The next mod after my Goodridge hoses, was to give it some cleaner looks and stumble into member Mouse selling a set of used front and rear white lights. Bought them from Mouse and then bought another set of new white fender signals to go with it. Then a month or so later, found a set of orginal M-Tech staggered 17" rims in mint condition taken out from a 330ci. Fitted them with new Falken FK-452 and slap them on my car. Then came Supergrippen who want to trade his original M-Tech 2 bodykit as he was selling his car. Met up with him and trade my original kit for the M-Tech 2 kit. In Sept or was it october??, i got itchy as i was not happy enough with the handling and the ride looks too high with 17" rims and M-Tech2 kit. :D So, after some search, got the Bilstein yellow with H&R springs and upgraded the power slightly with the Pipercross Induction kit. Picture of my engine bay after months of owning it. A little dirty ya:eek:

It has covered so far 20,000kms on my ownership and i'm sending my car in this week hopefully for a lube change and want to replace my transmission and axle oil one more time as the first time changed the oil was totally black.

At the same time, will be doing some brake upgrade as pads and discs are wearing out and need better stopping power with my occassional hard driving. hehe... Hopefully my mech have time for me this weekend and update you guys then...

Nice clean car... nice to know that you have poured in your TLC. Reminds me of my ex-car... same color some more... *sigh*

More mods, man... Once you start, you can't stop...

Tender Loving Care

Nice car you have there... If you don't mind i give a tip?? Paint the black strip on the bumpers and the doors to match the paint... then sure nice wan..My humble opinion.

Did installing the Pipercross give any improvement in power?

Thanks...

Might consider painting the linings when paint job is due, but at the moment got to be content with it as i want to spend the money else where. hehe..

The Pipercross did improve performance noticeably from 4000rpm till redline. Proven on dyno as well on my car.. But i do feel a slight loss of torque at low revs from 1000rpm to 3000rpm. 3000rpm to 4000rpm very slight improvement.

What you going to do next? Exterior mods or interior ke? Or engine mods ke? Careful bro never ending story wan..

I don't think i will be doing very much more on the engine.. It's daily driven and want good reliability and the 6 potters are giving me enough torque around town. If have the urge for more power and speed, I just take my track car to SIC for some thrill. :)

Anyway, my next visit to my mech is to do a engine oil/filter change, follow by my change of transmission and axle oil. Want change the trans and axle oil one more time before i do it every 50k km.

oh ya, my next mod list is to change and upgrade my brakes as the are all wearing out... Hopefully my mech free this weekend cause i call him early week and he is doing engine conversion...

I go to Max One Motorsports near to AB sungei besi. They actually mostly do japanese and national cars, but many of their close customers also owns a BMW and i as to date i have seen a couple of varies E36, E46, E34 and E39 regularly maintained there.

I have been going to him since year 2000 with my Putra Turbo then my Satria Gti Track car and now my Honda track car and E46. Not a BMW specialist, but gets the job done well with reasonable price and trustworthy to me.

My mech had sometime last saturday, so send my car in for general service/oil change.

Additional stuff i did was changed the transmission filter with the Esso trans oil and changed the rear axle oil with the Redline Shockproof heavyduty. Upgraded my worn out brakes to EBC Redstuff brake pads and DBA slotted discs. Wanted to use the EBC slotted disc with the EBC pads, but the DBA was offered at a very good price due to the last set to clear.

Some pictures for now and more info after lunch.

Cheers.. :)

The worn out OEM front.. See the deep groove round the discs?

I presume nothing bad happened to your gearbox when you changed the transmission fluid after 6 years on the original fluid? I ask this question as there are some concerns out there on whether the transmission fluid should be changed after a long period of not doing so - some say if you haven't changed the transmission fluid before on a high-mileage car, changing the fluid on such a car would cause the transmission to go kaput...
